Calera child receives surprise from UA Athletics Department, Saban family after prank

A Calera family received the surprise of a lifetime Thursday afternoon after the University of Alabama found out about a prank played on the family's oldest son.
It all started last weekend during the Iron Bowl when Cody Kirk posted a video on Twitter of his 7-year-old son Brody crying tears of joy when Alabama scored its first touchdown against Auburn.
In an attempt to prank the boy, someone called the family pretending to be an employee of the University and invited Brody to come to Tuscaloosa to meet Coach Nick Saban and the team. After realizing this wasn't true, the Kirks were heartbroken for their son.
Word of the prank got around to Alabama's Athletic Director Greg Byrne and he contacted Cody to ask for the family's address in order to send a surprise.
On Thursday, that surprise came. In the box there was an assortment of Bama football merchandise, including a football signed by the Sabans and an autographed picture of the Coach.
Even though the prank was upsetting, what came of it turned their frowns upside down. Mom Brooke even called the box a "Bama Blessing!"
Roll Tide to that!
