I think we'll sqeak out one more win against Georgia State but MSU and Auburn are gonna be ugly. Cams gonna name the score on us.
then there's next year. We lose Ingram, Darius, Julio, Hightower, Greg and a host of others Im sure I'm leaving out. We have to start a new QB who will probably be a medicore as past QBs Alabama is known for. We'll probably win about 7 games and then Saban will leave for Dallas.
things don't look good imo.
Is this a joke? I will give you the benefit and assume you're just having a meltdown over a (GASP) 7-2 season to date. I will now dissect and destroy your reasons for pending mediocrity. And yes, I am an Auburn fan.
Offense: McElroy is generally a heady QB. I remember saying before last season "No way Bama loses a senior QB and doesn't experience a drop-off." Couple that with the fact that you guys lost one of the best o-lineman in school history (Tits McGee from the Pro Day videos, the name escapes me) and your starting running back. How'd that work out? Seems like I remember watching a certain crimson team win a pretty big game at the Rose Bowl last year.
Ingram and Julio leaving are far from a lock. With the very real possibility of an NFL lockout they'd be stupid to leave. I think if there is not a lockout both of them could STILL benefit from another year in college. That being said, I figure you lose Ingram. Julio's inconsistency may cost him millions if he can't get it resolved. AJ isn't a bad QB. Your o-line is young and Trent Richardson would be a Heisman contender anywhere but Alabama.
Your defense is young and that's why they've been inconsistent. What makes you think another year in school for a young defense will make them step back? Dre will be one of the best cover corners in the SEC before he graduates. Barron is a junior and I don't see him going pro. Hightower would be STUPID to declare for the draft. He is a great LB that has not yet regained his pre-injury form. He will be back and better than ever next season. Dareus is probably gone if he can still get his money. My response to that is who cares? He hasn't had that big of an impact on your defense since he's been back.
Saban to Dallas is rumor and conjecture at this point. Yes, I started a thread asking where that rumor came from because of how ridiculous it sounds. Jerry Jones managing Nick Saban? You'd have a better chance at coaching AlabamaAubKiller up to winning a spelling bee than getting those two to co-exist! I'm not saying Jerry Jones wouldn't be interested in Saban, I'm saying Saban would have no interest in coaching in Dallas because of the type of owner Jones is. He has his hands in everything, goes into the locker room, comes to the sidelines, etc. That dynamic would NEVER work. Saban may go somewhere else but it damn sure won't be Dallas. The biggest "rumor" I'd heard is that Saban would go back to LSU when they fired Miles after this season. Well, it looks like Miles just bought himself some more time unless they have a precipitous fallout to end the season.
Alabama should still beat Mississippi State. The talent of the depth chart alone should get them over the hump. Yes, it will be a dog-fight and State has a solid football team. Bama will come out hungry next week. I am confident about Auburn beating Alabama but with it being in Tuscaloosa and the biggest game Bama has left (bowl game included) they won't sleep walk through that game. I am confident that our offense will play well and put up points but as for Cam naming the score? I'd be shocked if we had that kind of success. We put up 440 rushing yards on LSU and still didn't score over 30. Bama's offense will hold the ball long enough that even if their defense is overwhelmed (big if) we won't hang 50 on them.
My advice to you is go have a beer, watch some highlights from last season and understand that you have a good coach, a talented roster and they will be relevant for years to come. Will they win multiple BCS titles? Probably not--in this day and age it is almost impossible. Look how long Texas, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, etc have been at the top of the heap. Not many rings to show for it but certainly not irrelevant.
