šŸ“” B1G cancels fall sports, PAC12 follows.

Seems to me the timing of this is interesting. Organized players will put a halt to the season faster than covid-19. If the season is paused, look out for how this continues to domino. People will have a lot of time to further this agenda.

ACC players are reportedly working up their plan, includes 20% revenue share.

IMO this country has been duped because some folks don't like the results of an election of the President. First they say well the majority of people voted for Hillary. Then Russia stole the election. Then Trump colluded with Russia. Trump had a mistress. He hates __________ blacks, Mexicans, illegals, Chinese, women, etc. None of those lies stick because they are not the truth. Then a virus becomes Trump's fault. We the people are nuts to let this $hit continue. You can vote him out if you want too, but the alternative choices give me nightmares. He took matters in his own hand today with his executive orders. This is not the first or last virus we are going to face but I am not going to purchase any products from China. So without being barefoot and naked I'm all in for made in the USA. Just read on my mask made in China.:mad:WTF

Trump has certainly challenged the status quo and the establishment. Not sure why to be honest. I do think the status quo needed to be challenged and the direction of the country was heading towards a cliff. He is making a lot of enemies that is for sure. These folks will not go down quietly. When the election happens no matter which way it goes I am afraid the fuse may be lit. The conservatives have historically not protested but I think they are fed up.

Now back to the thread topic, seems like if this stuff is starting to leak there has to be something behind it. Not sure what the trigger was but maybe the Presidents are starting to get cold feet. Maybe they believe there will be significant liabilities if someone catches the virus (and they will) especially if it leads to deaths. Either way it is very discouraging for the fans of this great sport.

Pretty much what I’ve expected since they started shutting down portions of the economy. Don’t hold your breath for a spring season. Precedent is and has been set. I don’t believe most of this will come back until there is a vaccine and it possibly becomes mandatory for participants in many aspects of the economy including sports. JMO

Why go through all the bullshit of making schedules and waiting this long, only to come out with schedules and cancel the season within the same week with no new harmful information out there? Makes zero sense.

I seriously think college athletics will eff themselves with this. They are pissing fans and gonna piss players off big time with no season. A point of no return if you ask me. They could return with smaller budgets and WAY less overhead, but lots of money is being lost with the back and forth BS right now amongst the brass. Lets be serious, there is no stuffing this genie back in the bottle, so less expense is not even a choice with these programs.

Something as bizarre as 2020 and COVID-19 may cause big time adjustments. Something of this magnitude may be the only thing that could stuff the genie back in the bottle. Not many events have the power to do that but there are a few and a global pandemic and its impact on the economy I believe reaches that level. I bet more individuals begin saving for a rainy day after this so why would the Universities not reevaluate their spending?

You feel these "educators" would be smart enough to already save for a rainy day, but deep down they make the same mistakes as us normal folks. Exactly why I have never understood getting off to celebrities, as if they are any different, usually more problems than us normal folk.

Older folks I know that lived through the great depression saved everything throughout their lives. The great depression came after the roaring 20's. The great depression and hardships left a huge imprint on them as they were younger. If the economy falls of the cliff (cancelling everything will do that) we may see something similar.

Some folks born in the '60's have been saving their entire life. Some folks just save differently.

In a not so humble brag I picked up three dozen of the these this past weekend for $10 a piece.IMG_20200810_083725548.jpg

The statement in full is below:

Buckeye Nation and the College Athletic community:

In response to the ongoing discussions surrounding the 2020 college football season, we the Football Parents Association at Ohio State would like to give our thoughts on the situation.

We believe Ohio State has set the standard for college athletics in regards to safety and testing protocols to ensure player, coach and staff safety.
The FPAOS strongly advocates for universal standards and protocols to be used across the entire conference that follow the leadership of Ohio State. Regular testing and surveillance according to best practices should be the norm for all players participating in fall sports. While we fully support any player who chooses to opt out of the season due to health concerns, this is a small percentage of athletes.

As parents, we strongly believe our sons want to play the upcoming season and have full trust the university and coaching staff along with the medical experts have found a safe way for that to occur. We believe that this age group represents some of the healthiest individuals, while we recognize the risk cannot be eliminated, we believe the risk is minimal and the season can safely and responsibly occur.

We respect our views may not be shared by others across the country, however, as parents of Ohio State players, we stand by the decisions being made by our athletic department in conjunction with medical staff to play the 2020 college football season.

Sincerely,
FPAOS BOARD
