šŸˆ Auburn hires Bryan Harsin as head coach.

any news on Sark? wasn't he supposed to interview today?
Marshall is reporting the same thing I pointed to earlier in these conversations. Sark will want _____, Auburn's PTB will say, "No. You can't have that much control" and this will be just what it was in the first place: something to appease their fan base into thinking they are really looking for "that guy."

Today they are reporting it's Napier ( šŸ™ ) and I hope that's the case if it's not Steele (which I still think gets the nod.) Napier has been talking to assistants for over a year now (started with Mississippi State last season) where he was "offered" but turned it down. We had UofSC with Napier where they wouldn't met his demands. Now ...

FWIW, two days ago Auburn Undercover had their "Hot Board 5.0" published. I saw reference today to "Hot Board 6.0." It's about as big of a cluster as Bama and Levitt.

Jay Tate is teasing a possible big candidate (he calls it a "tremor" candidate because he's weird), that I think is Lane Kiffin. Hard to hire a Saban Guy, when those guys follow the Saban Way of full program control. But, Kiffin isn't in that mold like the rest of them. Not saying he'd take it, but it won't be for the same reasons as the other 4 Saban guys they've tried to hire (Smart [several years ago], Cristobal, Sark, Napier).

From what I've heard this Kiffin to Auburn stuff started in Knoxville with UT's staff.

Merry Christmas, Bama nation!

(not that he was ever a serious candidate)

Kiffin to uA makes all kinds of no sense... or nonsense. They would have to offer him the world in a contract for him to leave OleMiss, unless he's just not happy at that location... which I have no indication of that being the case. I doubt aU has the pockets now to offer someone like Kiffin what he'd want... or more so that the power that be would be willing to cough up that much dough for Kiffin, but who knows. I really don't know nor do I care too much; however, it is entertaining to watch. To be honest, Kiffin is more a of threat to us at OleMiss than aU in my opinion. He'll be able to get better prospects than having to compete instate with us. aU will still have to have control of the program and Kiffin will be frustrated and handcuffed. At OleMiss, I think they are hungry and are will to give the control and money to Kiffin and the program to build it. Now, if Kiffin can just not insert foot in mouth... ;)

Anybody know what Little Lane’s buyout is at Ole Piss?

I don't think it would be a great fit, but Lane isn't really a great fit anywhere. He's more than likely going to wear out his welcome in 3-4 years regardless of where he is. He's as high risk/high reward as you can get. I doubt he'd get an offer, but there are some there that believe he's their best bet to dethrone Alabama, which is all they care about.

I won’t be surprised by who AU hires. I didn’t understand their firing Gus.

I can’t begin to understand a school concentrating on beating one team (their rival I know) rather than competing for championships
They fired GUs because he's one of the worst coaches ever at evaluating and developing talent and he seemed to refuse to put the people in position and then empower them to do what he lacked in those areas... and even a backward ass school like aU could see after 8 years what everyone else in the football world could see after just a few years.... Gus wasn't ever going to be the coach they needed.

I think he fits well...and i think Kiffin would love going vs NS ....
Kinda just like kiffin

Kiffin’s buyout at Ole Piss is around $5 million. I honestly believe his facilities right now are better than what the Barn has. Barn made promises of a ā€œfootball only facilityā€ a couple of years back but haven’t even begun to break ground. We mentioned before about Freeze even having better facilities at Liberty than what the Barn has. Barn must be in the lower tier for facilities when it comes to the SEC schools.

why would you think that? OleMiss has better facilities. It has a very good recruiting base. It has an in state rival they can dominate. It's a very good school with some tradition in sports too.

What does uA have to offer? A bunch of medaling money men that want to control the program and an instate rival that beats your ass in most areas... along with sub par facilities.

I truly don't think aU is a premier job at the moment... It may be one day in the future, but for now it's just not.

Que? Which side of the the fence are you on??

I would argue Ole Miss is a better place to coach than Auburn... no even equal and not even close to equal. You have plenty of resources with a lower expectation. The ability and history to be able to pull some good recruits. If Kiffin can keep the excitement up, he'll do very well at OM. I think they will become our #1 competition in the next few years. I truly think he'll build a program at OM that will be tough to compete against.

I think it's pretty clear... no??? I say the same thing in both post. Ole Miss is a better place to coach than aU... Did I mis-type something?

How do you come to that conclusion? Better facilities, often better HS talent, more control over your own program than you would ever have at the Barn. Now, should the Barn be a better job? Yes, it should, but for the points I just listed, shows Ole Piss is the better job.
