Auburn has denied @SInow records request asking for a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA. School has not denied that it has received an NOA; only saying that "Any documents related to an investigation of this nature are not subject to an open records request." MORE ...

Last week, while in Auburn, I went to the General Counsel's office to check on said records request and was told there was a "responsive document" that was with athletics. So it stands to reason that Auburn has a basketball NOA and simply isn't acknowledging it. MORE ...

Four other public universities -- N.C. State, Kansas, Oklahoma State and South Carolina -- have acknowledged and/or released their NOAs. Private schools USC and TCU also have acknowledged. Private school Creighton has neither confirmed nor denied.

Astros got off easy... so yeah, similar.
Did you happen to catch the news that one of Penn's former coaches was just handed a 15 year show cause today? The school is under two years probation as well, I believe. That's certainly not "getting off easy" in their case.

While I don't communicate with many Auburn folk, the few that I do know have said for months now they are expecting bad news. I've also seen conversations today about an appearance by Cole Cubelic today where he was saying something along the lines of "enjoy the basketball season now because there's bad news/times coming."

But Terry...it's AU... if anyone knows how to beat the rap ... its them

Barn wrote the book on how to cheat and beat it. I hear this stuff all the time and nothing ever comes of it. So until I see something really happen not buying that anything will happen.

NCAA is coming for the barn take it to the bank.

i just can't trust the ncaa anymore. they've lost their teeth in so many ways on so many different things it's difficult to take them seriously, now.

they're like the cop who became a hall monitor. they still wear the uniform, but they have no authority nor any will to use any authority they might have.

On one hand: "Nothing is going to happen because their Auburn."
On the other hand, "The NcAA has already started their sanction process on Auburn. They did it last year suspending players for 40+ games."

Pardon me while I abuse this cliche ... one hand has a wish, the other a portion of the shit coming down the road for those guys. And here is the thing, folks. This isn't my opinion I'm sharing (though it is shared) it's coming from their media outlets.

IF they are saying "expect the NOA."
IF they are saying "we aren't denying we have it, you just can't see it."
IF they are saying "I expect bad news on the horizon, enjoy the season as it is."

Why are they saying these things to the Auburn faithful?

And, one thing let's not forget here. Auburn has already self-imposed recruiting visits for basketball (which rumor has it they violated.)

I'm left with a question. Why am I seeing "nothing is going to happen" when I'm seeing things happen?

FWIW, I'm told that last night Jay G. Tate posted a note on the site he works for which said "The NOA has been received and they expect sanctions." Apparently, after exchanging a few news bits with the members there he deleted his comments.

This may be the most Auburn thing I've ever heard.
I really didn't dig deep into the story. Just caught the highlights, so to speak.

What was said was along the lines of they wouldn't host any recruits, but then turned around and had several members of an AAU group on campus to visit. It was "okay" because they weren't official (paid) visits ...being "their dime" and all.

What seems to be missed by a lot is this is the fourth time Pearl and his team have been involved in some "scandal" with the NCAA the last resulting in the show cause. How do you think those in the NCAA's enforcement arm look at Pearl?

"nothing is going to happen" when I'm seeing things happen?
For me it is my expectations of what should happen are not occurring. I think a lot of us still think about the "fig newton" mess where he clearly got money and we were expecting the barn to be hammered and they got nothing. Similar to the LSU Wade thing, he should not be coaching right now period.

At least for me that is why I say nothing is going to happen. Kind of like expecting someone to get life in prison or the death penalty and then getting off with probation. Nothing happened or at least the time did not match the crime.

What should happen versus what one believes should be happening? Does that pretty much encapsulate what you're saying here?

As example, people believed UNC should have received harsher sanctions than they received. When their case was progressing I tried to point out while they were skating a very thin line they were well within NCAA guidelines.

With Wade, yes, there are a lot of college basketball fans who believe he shouldn't be coaching right now. But that's not on the NCAA, that's on LSU's administration. While it's not a court of law, due process is still something that has to be considered, right?

It's my opinion the "big fish" they're after in this case isn't Auburn or LSU. It's Louisville. But, those two SEC programs are too far out of second place.
