šŸˆ Auburn fan posts what it takes to beat Alabama

It takes good or great QB play and your Defense has to sell and limit our running game. A little luck along the way doesn't hurt, but you have to make our Offense throw the ball effectively.

Our defense is particularly susceptible to quick slants across the middle, especially with a little help from the ref shielding or dual slants with a "rub" play. It is a weakness of the defense, one of the very few. the only other weakness is absolute perfect sideline passes, as the corners rarely turn around to defend them. They have to be right on the money though, a hair off and you will often pay for it.

Over the last few years we've seen improvement in that area. I remember how frustrating it was when we saw Vinnie in the nickel package. A combination, really, with linebackers who weren't real good in pass defense--CJ probably marks the time we saw dramatic improvement there--along with the tendency of playing three safeties in the nickel package.

Improving...evolving...I certainly don't "fear" those routes as much as I did a few years ago.

And then having to watch Chavis in the 4-3 shut the phenom down twice was hard to take. A cold reminder that you can put all the talent on a football field but you have to fight scheme with scheme.
