This is pretty much the sanest sports forum I visit (and the only one I post on) so it bugs me to see a meltdown on here. Now with that said, I will explain my take on the game.

It was a terrible performance by most of our players.

It saddens me that any quarter back blunders are so obvious, while the other blunders deserve equal mention.

First. I thought JPW looked real;ly crisp to start the game. Actually, around the third pass attempt. I was yelling at the recievers to catch the darn football. Of course, the coverage was good, but some of those passes shouldve been caught.

A good note, we ran better today. Sadly our OLine traded their pass blocking skills for run blocking skills. To many times I saw missed assignments or poor blocking that forced an errant throw(both of those that glare out are plays that couldve been TDs)

Deffensively, I thought we did good till the end. I was just shocked on that one running play when Prince Hall and two others were just around the running back, but no one TRIED to make the play.

Then at the end, John Parker Wilson seemed to lose all confidence in his team. Thats what him hesitating to throw and rushing the ball should tell you. Heck, why not? It didnt feel to me like the team was playing to win.

Oh bright spot : Tiffin is just getting better and better.

But yes, the players didnt play, and the opportunities to win were there and ALL the guys on the field choked. That said, I feel blaming one position or one coach for this loss is wrong.

You know what I would like to see? Us as fans take this loss with grace. Mississippe State is a team we shouldnt have lost too, but they are improving, and we also did alot to lose today too. We arent good enouogh to overcome poor execution and turnovers like some teams. We lost, hats off to them, now lets get ready for next week and Auburn.

What he said. Good post Joe.

I totally agree. These are my exact sentiments. I hate to see us meltdown on here. I understand ranting and venting, but still, we know this is a process and this was a hiccup in the process.

Roll Tide!

Nice post, Joe.

Another bright spot today was punting. I thought it was a contributor to last week's loss, and I whined about it. Kudos for the vast improvement this week.

Message boards are great, but the biggest shortfall is the immediacy of access and the temptation to come vent.

RTR,

Tim

Did I say something wrong?

Although I didn't delete your thead (someone else beat me to it).....I'm sure the admin/mod thought the same thing as me.

There are plenty of threads on here pissing and moaning about the loss. Post in that one

Joeman started a "positive" thread and there really was no need to rain on this thread.

That's funny right there!!

Good post as well Joe, I believe it is a process which like most comes with growing pains as some might call it.

(Joeman546 is a name I made up at age 12, but Id almost like it if everone called me Joe, tis my name)

Now onto that =)

Yes it really is growing pains, for the coaches, players and whatnot. Some people seem to forget that Saban and the coaching staff have only been here 10 months, so its not unexpected.

"But we have the highest paid coaching staff in the land!" Thats a good reason for the coaches to do well, but the players arent seeing a penny of that 32 million dollar contract Saban is getting. So I mean, there will HAVE to be growing pains.

Also, I like the staff, they have all done a great job. But it has to be said that the staff, while good, was put together very quickly. They havent felt each other out completely either.

The year isnt over or ruined yet, we just hit an unexpected snag. The team is still heading in a good direction, so lets let the process correct these errors.

EDIT : Also, to respond to OC questions in other threads, I really like Applewhite. My first instinct is to look at our OCs record. He isnt known for ever being to conservative. Now the Assistant OC, Joe Pendry, is. So I don't think its just Saban and Applewhite who arent on the same page. There were tons of plays to be made that werent today though, so its hard to blame that one possible issue on our staff.
