I know it's only his second year at the helm, But Kirby's team is gonna be handling all the east division expectations this time. A few weeks ago it was reported that Georgia has got more 4 and 5-star players coming in than the rest of the east division combined. I think the honeymoon is over.
I looked at UGA's class a week or so ago and noticed roughly three quarters of their class is from the state of Georgia. That's nothing new. It was the same with Richt, a lot like that with Donnan, and it mirrors what happened under Goff (hence, the Kirby Goff reference.)
If you recall, Goff recruited very, very well when he was at UGA. But, when it came to the CEO side of running a football program he failed, miserably.
From reports about Kirby in his last two season at Bama he was emulating Saban and the way he ran the program in Tuscaloosa. I thought, based on what I was hearing, he'd make the transition easily. But, I've heard from more than one person closely associated with UGA that hey're disappointed in the way he's running the program.
The ol' "honeymoon" period was over last season, IMO. The back to back losses to Ole Miss and the Vols practically ended it but the Vandy loss?!?! Oh, that didn't/hasn't sat well with the Bulldog faithful, at all.
Maybe not, but they definitely look like the best team coming back. I agree, they are just like Clemson was five years or so ago, just can't get over the hump
I see UF and UGA being right next to each other when it comes to talent. The one advantage I see UGA having this season is the schedule facing Florida. If we're right about UT and AU, and Vandy continues to be Vandy, UGA will have an easier road schedule than the Gators.
