Win-Loss Record key:
  • SEC - conference record
  • P5 - non-SEC record against Power 5
  • MM - record against Mid Majors/Non-Power 5 but projected bowl participant
  • CC - record against cupcakes

A classic Les Miles move came this past Saturday with LSU down 34-10 in the 4th quarter. The Tigers score to make it 34-16 and Les decides to go for a two-point conversion and misses. Now let's do the math. 34 minus 16 equals 18. Kick the extra point and the difference is 17 points = 2 TDs and a field goal to tie. As it turns out, the Tigers got the two touchdowns and the ball back with 20 seconds remaining. Had he kicked the extra points, the score would've been 34-31. A few passes could've gotten them in field goal range. Instead, they had to attempt to cover the whole 80 yards in the remaining time.

Auburn will be without the services of senior Jermaine Whitehead for this weekend's game. The three-year starter at safety will be suspended for violating team rules. Coach Gus Malzahn learned from Jimbo Fisher's mistake announcing that Whitehead will not be allowed on the sideline Saturday.

Florida Gators (2-1, SEC 1-1, P5 0-0, MM 0-0, CC 1-0)
Florida
has a week off to prepare for a trip to Knoxville
Despite Jeff Driskel’s poor performance against Alabama on Saturday, coach Will Muschamp is sticking with the senior. Many Gators fans have called for a benching, most notably former Gator star RB Emmit Smith: "Put Jeff Driskel on the bench please, I have seen enough," Smith tweeted (@EmmittSmith22). The problem is, who do they think is going to replace him? True freshman Treon Harris, who is listed as the back-up, did not enroll until summer. To think he could come in and do better might be a reach. The Gators lost two other quarterbacks this past off-season. Tyler Murphy transferred to Boston College for his final season and has the Eagles at a surprising 3-1 including an upset of Southern Cal. Jacoby Brissett is now the starter for 4-0 North Carolina State, though their weak schedule so far would make Texas A&M blush.

Georgia Bulldogs (2-1, SEC 0-1, P5 1-0, MM 0-0, CC 1-0)

Despite being a fifth-year senior, quarterback Hutson Mason has yet to truly look comfortable in the UGA offense. Mason took over for Aaron Murray after he tore an ACL against Kentucky last November. Most would think that last Saturday's game against woeful Troy (0-4) would be a perfect opportunity to work some things out. However, he only threw the ball 11 times and only once in the Bulldogs' first three possessions. Coach Mark Richt sat his starter midway through the second quarter in favor of letting back-ups play.

South Carolina Gamecocks (3-1, SEC 2-1, P5 0-0, MM 1-0, CC 0-0)

Don't ever change, OBC.

Texas A&M Aggies (4-0, SEC 1-0, P5 0-0, MM 0-0, CC 3-0)
Arkansas
vs. Texas A&M 02:30 PM CT / 03:30 PM ET CBS played at Jerry World.
The Aggies defense has been praised for their improvement over last season's sieve of a defense but they have yet to be tested by the likes of Arkansas' rushing attack. South Carolina's ground game has proven to be sub-par. Lamar, Rice, and SMU are no real measuring stick. Meanwhile, the Hogs dynamic duo of Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams already have a combined 881 yards on the ground and 12 touchdowns. This game might just give us a better idea of what this Aggies team is made of.

Arkansas Razorbacks (3-1, SEC 0-1, P5 1-0, MM 1-0, CC 1-0)
Arkansas
vs. Texas A&M 02:30 PM CT / 03:30 PM ET CBS played at Jerry World.
The Razorbacks' recent success has had a big effect on the recruiting trail as Arkansas received commitments from the state's top two recruits. Wide receiver K.J. Hill and tight end Will Gragg are the latest two to give their pledge to the Hogs. Alabama was among many suitors hoping to land these two 4-stars.

Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-0, SEC 1-0, P5 0-0, MM 0-0, CC 3-0)
Mississippi State
has a bye week, followed by a visit from Texas A&M.
The Bulldogs made a big jump into the rankings going from the among the unranked to number 14. LSU dropped from 8 to 17. This is the first time since 1999 that both MSU and Ole Miss (No. 10) have been ranked at the same time. That season, former Bullies coach Jackie Sherrill led the Bulldogs to a 10-2 record, including beating Clemson in the Peach Bowl and an Egg Bowl win over the Rebs in the famous "Pick and Kick" game.

Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0, SEC 1-0, P5 1-0, MM 0-0, CC 2-0)
Bye week and then a trip to the Grove. Let's take that place over!
ROLL TIDE!

Like everyone else, I hate Auburn with everything I have in me, but I must say not allowing Whitehead on the sidelines is a good PR move.

I know that tamu will likely throttle the piggies, but it will definitely be interesting to see how well piggieville can run on tamu's D.
