🏈 Are they going for Tua's knee?

NCAA RULE Article 9B: "When an offensive player is in a passing posture with one or both feet on the ground, no defensive player rushing unabated shall hit him forcibly at the knee area or below. The defensive player also may not initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit this opponent in the knee area or below. [Exceptions: (1) It is not a foul if the offensive player is a runner not in a passing posture, either inside or outside the tackle box. (2) It is not a foul if the defender grabs or wraps this opponent in an attempt to make a conventional tackle without making forcible contact with the head or shoulder. (3) It is not a foul if the defender is not rushing unabated or is blocked or fouled into this opponent.] "

Therefore it most certainly was a penalty and targeting.

Maybe I am naive but I do not think they are. On this specific play, Tua shuffles backwards just before contact which makes the hit at the knee/thigh area otherwise it could have been more of a hit in the gut.

Could it also be that there have been so many targeting calls with hits around the head and neck area that now coaches are coaching them to hit lower to avoid any risk of a targeting call?

If so, then they need to teach their players this rule:

"When an offensive player is in a passing posture with one or both feet on the ground, no defensive player rushing unabated shall hit him forcibly at the knee area or below. (3) It is not a foul if the defender is not rushing unabated or is blocked or fouled into this opponent.]"

Ten Bears had LSU taking The King so he has been real quiet recently until today. He believes the defensive teams have finally learned to scheme vs #13 (those with the talent to carry out such a plan) and you're seeing the result in how much longer #13 is having to hold the ball waiting for his elite receivers to come free. It sure looks like the dump off to the RB's are a good plan yet #13 is skipping those too often. We're not seeing many of those wide open receivers anymore for whatever reason.

Ten Bears is full of S*** (as he is most of the time). If you predict doom & gloom enough, eventually you'll be correct.
But you will more than likely be wrong 100's of times before you are right. But, what the hell, you can crow that you are right!

Its because we just played the 2 best Defenses in the nation other than our own. Miss State was #1 in SEC before last week and other than us..... LSU was the best. Thats why we had trouble moving the ball somewhat in the first half. Their D is good.
