🏈 Are the players getting bored......

I wouldn't think so. How can you get bored with winning? Complacent, now that's possible but not bored.

Me, I'm not bored at all. I recall very well sitting in BDS in those dark times. DuBose, Fran, Shula. I love when the Tide has a game in control at the half or by the end of the third quarter. As they say, Remember the Alamo... We had several "Alamo's" in the past decade.

The ENTIRE 2000 season.

And not to mention that performance against Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Bored. HE#@ NO!!!

2000 aubrun - cold, raining/sleeting, 9-0 defeat knowing we had no chance of scoring. That was worse than any of the midmajor debacles.

sometimes in blowout games it's more exciting to watch the individual matchups on the LOS instead of watching the ball. i do that anyway. it's fun watching people try to block Jesse Williams or get around Fluker.

I do that too, been watching Adrian Hubbard get off his blocks, he is always a split second away from getting the sack...Very underrated player IMO.

First of all.....Munchy, you're right. I realized after i posted this that i left off aTm. But i knew someone would catch it. Lol. Secondly, Eleven, i wasnt saying u were the smartass. I typed that out wrong. I was referring to crazy being the smartass. I was referring to u as being one of the very few who get what im talking about. Sorry for the confussion. And Crazy STILL doesnt get it. Crazy, ur starting to make me think that u r one of those typical {considerate} EDIT Bama fans that people dont like. Now, i read ur post about the low blocking subject. I agree with ur point on most of it but, i have to agree with others on there too. In other words, i agree with all points. I didnt go on there and try to be a smartass. And u wonder how old i am? Im 33. But im not too young to remember what happened to us in 2010. And i know we had a young D and there are more reasons. I coach my 11 year old son's football team and, i know they're kids, i see them getting bored when something isnt exciting. All im saying is, could that be happening to our players. And the only reason i feel like i might be bored is because when bama makes an awesome play or first down, everyone in the room better get their hands up cause im running around highfiving. Touchdowns, i buttbump or chestbump. But when it looks like the players are letting up and look like they are just playing to hurry and get it over with to move on to preparing for next week, i can see that they r getting bored along about 3rd going into 4th qtr. And that in returns bores me. If you cant see that, then maybe you need to look closer. But dont doubt my loyalty as a fan or anything like that. You would be dead wrong.

We're all good here, and can have a good, spirited (but friendly) debate over the finer points of what will be considered another golden era of Bama football. Wade, Thomas, Bryant 1961-66, Bryant 1971-79, Saban 2008- ????.

Roll Tide, Y'all.

TD to FG ratio in the red zone is 16-6, scoring on all 22 trips. We're productive in that we're putting points on the board.

I know I'm splitting hairs a bit here but I think what you said isn't exactly true, but close. What I've noticed is the offense stalling when it gets in plus territory; specifically between the 35/40 and down to the 20/25 yard lines. In striking distance, but not in the red zone.

I'm feeling unsettled at this point on the offensive line. I can realize it's difficult to protect and create running lanes when there are six plus in the box. At the same time, if we're overloaded on the ends and in helmet on helmet situations in the middle we should be getting more production.

All that said, it's easy for fans to sense complacency. Take this as one example. We are just recently removed from seeing the Bama team score on it's first possession consistently through the season. Now, we are seeing the punting team often.

On the same lines, it's far easier to remember the negative things—like running backs stopped for no gain—than realizing we are still averaging over 5 yards per carry and our two longest rushing attempts haven't gone over 40 yards.

Well said Terry.

No, i wouldnt be an empty seat in the third qtr. That irretates the crap out of me when people leave the games early. I even hang around til the last second at A-day. And im not your partner. All i was asking for was maybe positive opinions, which many on here have given. Except you. U started out being a smartass and negative, which made me see you as a bit considerate. That will probably get edited too. Im sorry for the insults but do u think i didnt feel insulted by you? I dont write much on here but i visit everyday and see what good and interesting stories people have. And i'll admit that you are one of my favorite ones on here. I dont know you, i dont really know anybody on here....except Lance, and thats just because ive talked to him a few times. But i feel like i know everyone on here. But man, you couldve at least tried to see what i was talking about instead of being a smartass first.

I'm a smartass, a prick, and several other things to the power of ⁿ.

Now that I've got that cleared up, I think I've got a pretty good grasp on this thread and the subject at hand. See if you agree or not.

First of all, bored is a bad choice of words. I could list a number of adjectives, but let me tell a quick story and see if you can relate.

The only portion of this season I was truly in "game mode" was the first half of Michigan. By "game mode," I mean having a physical reaction to seeing what was happening on the field. A fist pump, maybe a clap. Those types of reactions.

When I watched the Ole Miss game I was far from bored. I didn't miss a snap. In fact, I've watched bits and pieces of the game a second and third time. But, getting back to the point at hand, there wasn't any physical reactions to what I was seeing from the team other than a grimace or two.

I didn't know what to expect out of our team that first week. Those questions, a lot of them but certainly not all, were answered those first 30 minutes.

Through these last four wins I haven't been what I would call emotionally invested in the games. Quite frankly, I knew—like most of us did—the outcome long before the ball was kicked.

Never bored, and never overly excited either.

This team isn't bored and at the same time there hasn't been anything that would get them emotionally invested in the games as well. The only thing that might be characterized as one of those moments was the last drive of the FAU game. We had a shut out in our grasp, but we also had our back-ups on the field. Our starters weren't emotionally invested in those moments anymore than starters on a basketball team are when they see the walk-ons score a basket.

What we have seen is our team come out, handle business, but do so in 3rd gear. Coasting, if you will.

The question remains whether they'll be able to take the game up another level. We need to be improving week to week. Are we? That's not answered from any action we've seen on Saturday's.

Getting away from the confines of BDS is exactly what this team needs right now. It won't put them in what I would call an uncomfortable situation, but it'll be far from the friendly confines we've enjoyed the last two weekends.

All of this makes the Mizzou game interesting.

Considering it's on the road we should expect it to start out like Arkansas. Both their fans and team were pumped up for that game. We hit them in the mouth a few times and they decided to stay down.

Now, Mizzou did the same thing the weekend before last at South Carolina. But, given they are at home it should be enough to give them a reason to play longer than the first quarter of the game; ala Arkansas.

I know their win last week was against UCF, but it was a good road win. Can they take that and jump back into the SEC schedule with some carryover? Again, another question left to be answered.

It very well may be another game where they stick around for a while and then quit. Hell, if LSU drops the game this weekend again Florida? It may only take a half to put them in the same situation.

Bottom line. The off week comes at the ideal time. There's no doubt the team needs to recharge; refocus if you will.

You know, this edit thing is something I do to keep this on occasion to keep this friendly for the kids who frequent here. Editing twice, particularly when you know you were edited once, is a sign of an inconsiderate guest.

We can disagree without being disagreeable.

Thanks,

Tim

Crazy, i sincerely appologize for the insults. But i never said you were unlikable. Lol. I guess you just caught me off guard. But what terry just said, about the fist pumps and the excitement of watching the mich game and then not having that excitement much since that game....THATS what i was talking about. And maybe bored wasnt the right word, but maybe it was. And yes, the bye week comes at the PERFECT time for this team.

I have always been conciderate on here. I have never been out of line, and you can check if you want. And since when is P**CK (is that better) a worse word than smartass? Lol
