Cause i have found myself being bored the past few games. The only real exciting game we have played so far is the Mich game and the first half of the Arkansas game. And it hit me seeing how ole miss was able to nearly hang with us. Our players are bored from lack of competition. Am i right or wrong? What will be the next exciting game on our schedule that will push our players? Mizzou? Im not sure about them. They really havent proved to be the test that people thought they would be for us. It will be exciting playing at a new place. I just hope its a good game. What about the vols? Its always exciting playing in knoxville, but i kinda see this game being a little like the ark game, except tenn will put some points up. What about miss st and the whos from lswhoville? Have the cowbells really even been tested yet? We know the barn flexed their muscles against the swamp tigers, and our win against an sec ole miss looked better than their win against towson. But i still know that our trip to death valley will be the most exciting game we have played since dallas. And then the barn. I dont care how up we are or down they are, that game will always be exciting. And even tho i hate coaches who run up the score, i hope we empty the playbook on them at BDS. Also, has anyone else ever noticed how much better we play away than we do at home? So could it be that the schedule, tho first started out as an interesting schedule, has just turned into one of those, ok who's next......oh you, schedules?

I do sense complacency creeping in for the fans, including me. However, the work, preparation and generally regimented existence of the team may not allow for the same complacency. I'm hoping the coaches and team leaders can keep that from cropping up within the team.

I know the players wont get complacent and i know they prepare every week like its their last. Its just, it seems like theyre so dominant, that no one can match up with them and they want that competition to test themselves. I dont know....i guess thats just one of many ways to look at it.

If they're bored, then the Mizzou game will wake them up, the atmosphere at Missouri will be electric. Last time a #1 team came into their, they beat them.

@Tennessee, that's a huge game, streak on the line, more than likely at night, I'm not sure how many players we have from Tennessee or up north Alabama ,but they will be riled up as well. 3rd Saturday in October is a huge rivalry game, I do not want to lose to them.

Miss State will more than likely be undefeated or come in with at least 1 or 2 losses. That will be a big game, don't want to lose at home either.

These next four weeks will provide enough excitement for you and our team.

I really hope that SOMEONe will stop looking for contridictions and who isnt looking to be a smartass, to understand what i mean.....like Eleven. Nobody on here can honestly say they havent been a little bored with our competition. And i would bet the players are feeling a little bored too. Some of yall act like, "we are BAMA and we have CNS. That stuff cant happen to us." And im not saying its the players' fault or anything. Its just that the scedule we THOUGHT we had before the season, isnt the same schedule anymore.

several things worth noting ...

1. this is as good as it gets for a college football program. we are currently at a level that every program aspires to reach. in all the different ways that you can measure the significance of a program, we are grading at the top or near the top in every category. as a coach, Saban is literally changing the game before our eyes. we need to keep this in mind whenever we find ourselves "bored."
2. let's face it, most of us bought into the preseason hype that the Mich and Ark games would be challenging and exciting. oddly enough, while no major college football personality picked Mich to win the Big10, they were the highest ranked Big10 team in the preseason. was it just to promote the ONLY game with national appeal on opening day???? i think so. and regarding Ark, that team proved to be nothing but a house of cards waiting for a stiff breeze. such a breeze came in the form of a good ULM team and an injury to Wilson. so it is understandable to feel disappointed with such one-sided outcomes after being told all off-season that they would be huge match ups. as it turned out, our schedule this year is much more favorable than most predicted.
3. i feel like Russell Crowe's character in the movie Gladiator when he asks the crowd, "are you not entertained?! are you NOT entertained?!" when i hear our fans complain about being bored so far, i recall the times when we hoped for a respectable loss. remember when we took pride in our tough losses to teams like Oklahoma? do we want to return to the days of Shula where the games are competitive into the 4th quarter only to lose it every time? do we want to get our hearts ripped out when we give up 3rd and longs to Tennessee in OT? i mean really people, we hired a coach who said in his introductory press conference that he wanted to "dominate our opponents" every week. who says stuff like that to the public upon being hired ... in the SEC no less?? a coach with BALLS. and now he's doing just that, yet you're not satisfied? you need to check yourself. start enjoying aspects of the game that you weren't previously able to enjoy because we were merely concerned with trying to squeeze out a win each week. for example, one of the things i've grown to enjoy is watching our young back ups get more PT and seeing their development. anyway, i'll get off my soap box now, but it annoys me to see this typical attitude of not appreciating the fact that we are the shiznit.

I understand what you're saying and i do remind myself of these points when i start to feel like the game starts to seem less exciting. All im saying is, im a little concerned that the players might be feeling the same way. I know we're the shiznit and i proud as hell that we are. Im glad we're dominant to the point that doesnt seem like anyone can compare to us. Its like when we say we would rather play teams when they are at their best. But my whole point in all of this is......do the players feel tested and are they just doing through the motions every game? Thats my only concern. Do i trust our coaches to not let that happen with the players? Yes i do. But the coaches can only talk. The players have to execute and maintain the disipline that is required to not let them think that they arent being tested. Im just a fan and as a normal fan, i am always concerned that our players might have a mental lapse and get blindsided. Thats all i really meant in all of this.

I am disappointed in the lack of consistent execution, especially on the play of the offensive line and the red zone productivity. It may be a lack of focus but I don't think it is boredom.

People, every one has an opinion and should be able to write something that he legitimately thinks is a good question and have it answered by the friends and fellow fans on the best Bama board on the web. TD to FG ratio in the red zone is 16-6, scoring on all 22 trips. We're productive in that we're putting points on the board.

I know I'm splitting hairs a bit here but I think what you said isn't exactly true, but close. What I've noticed is the offense stalling when it gets in plus territory; specifically between the 35/40 and down to the 20/25 yard lines. In striking distance, but not in the red zone.

I'm feeling unsettled at this point on the offensive line. I can realize it's difficult to protect and create running lanes when there are six plus in the box. At the same time, if we're overloaded on the ends and in helmet on helmet situations in the middle we should be getting more production.

All that said, it's easy for fans to sense complacency. Take this as one example. We are just recently removed from seeing the Bama team score on it's first possession consistently through the season. Now, we are seeing the punting team often.

On the same lines, it's far easier to remember the negative things—like running backs stopped for no gain—than realizing we are still averaging over 5 yards per carry and our two longest rushing attempts haven't gone over 40 yards.

The family and I were discussing something like this the other day. How at times it is harder for us the fans to get fired up when we are always the hunted and not the hunter. When you go into a game and realize it is going to be close and could go either way you are just naturally more fired up where if you go into a game 20 point favorite its just not as exciting. All of that said it doesn't mean we are bored or anything like that. As mentioned earlier in this thread we are enjoying our dominance because as we all know it can change quickly (although I don't see that happening as long as coach Saban is here). We love the Tide and will always root for them win, lose or tie.

I don't see Texas A&M mentioned anywhere in there. They certainly can't be overlooked.
