Three straight seasons has to be near the top of the record books.

"Alabama will begin its quest for a second consecutive national championship with a rare three-peat.

The Crimson Tide is just the second team to be ranked No. 1 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll for three straight seasons. Alabama received 42 out of 61 first-place votes.

No. 2 Clemson received 18 first-place votes. Georgia is No. 3 and Wisconsin is fourth. The Badgers received one first-place vote. Ohio State was ranked No. 5.

The preseason AP poll started in 1950 and since then only Oklahoma from 1985-87 had started No. 1 in three straight years until now."

No. 1 Alabama tops preseason Top 25; Clemson, Georgia next

@252BAMA, You read through the AP article / thread?

Rasmussen, or however you spell his name, is the guy that voted Wisconsin number one. We've been following "how the AP voters voted" for several years now and I recall him being an outlier on more one occasion. Scott Wolf is out and he was always good for bad votes.

He is the voter that had Michigan ranked #1 in the 2012 Preseason Poll. :D

Finebaum had Rasmussen on today. Not a bad interview...still didn’t follow his logic.

When he was questioned about his votes a few years ago he said he was casting his ballot based on where he thought teams would end the season.

Was that the one? Sounds right. Last year he had USC at #1 which was a horrible pick but a few made that mistake--only one at #1. I swear he is just trying to make headlines.

Wasn't as senile as Brian Jones of CBS fame picking Florida as one of the 4 playoff teams.

Just hope on the initial show this year that Rick Neuheisel will serenade us with the saga of losing Allie Laforce. I love a good tear jerker.

No doubt about it. That was also the year he said he was basing his balot on the end of the season. He also said that he might be wrong about the opener and Bama might win 38-7 but that he thought Michigan would win. I had picked that game 41-14 and changed my pick to 38-7 saying he might be right about something because he was wrong about everything else.

The first part I mentioned here, earlier. That last bit...until you mentioned it now I'd forgotten about that statement.

I mentioned Scott Wolf earlier with his picks (big USC guy) and one guy that came to mind a few minutes ago was Jon Wilner. He's had some really bad votes over the years as well.

It amuses me to see two sets of sports writers these days. One, the writer who has content that drives readers. Two, the writer who doesn't drive readers with their content and has to do something odd to get attention. Wilner, Asmussen, and Wolf all fit that last one. I noticed Brandon Marcello has a vote this year as well as Ben Jones. I wonder how Brandon's votes will read as the season goes on. His (Marcello's) first ballot mirrored the poll.

My glass is empty, but innocently
Just sittin here thinkin how much you mean to me
Thought about leavin, but you know you're one of a kind
And even though we tried it all
I'd like to try it more time..

Not the most auspicious beginning for the Jimbo Fisher era. No love for the Aggies at #33.

Both Ten Bears and Lone Watie believe Jimbo will go 8-4 this year. I believe he is going to have success going forward but I wonder how many on his roster will buy into the type physical football that Jimbo demand which is much different than Sumlin's. We'll see.
