in a few minutes kind of like Auburn in 2004(year?)?. From the first 2 polls, it looks like Georgia is dripping by not playing and may well get left out of the party. I think they will have a good argument based on their record and play of late (winning last 6 weeks while no one else up there has). It looks like them or LSU will get the shot but I think either should destroy OSU. What do you guys think?

I'd rather see Georgia get a chance in the NC than LSU...but I wouldn't be surprised if LSU got in and UGA got snubbed. and yea, I think just about any team Ohio State plays is going to win.

Like you said, either should destroy OSU easily, so it shouldn't matter. Until a better system is put in place (which will never happen), more often than not, the best team teams will not be playing in the title game.

Rict makes a persuasive argument on espn. the idea to require a team to be a conference champion before playing for the national title has been voted down numerous times by BCS officials. why they should deny UGA on those grounds now cannot be justified. if #1 and #2 lose, then #3 and #4 should move up. end of story.

The thing that intrigues me the most is how all the talk of how teams finish the season doesn't seem to matter now that the decision time draws near.

Also, they are going to have a tough time explaining how LSU passed VaTech when VT won fairly easily over a higher ranked team than LSU squeeked by. IMO LSU should have been ahead of them last week becasue they literally destroyed VT in Sept. LSU is better but explaining the jump after yesterday will not make sense.

Concerning Florida, It looks like they will be the SEC team in the top 10 that gets left out of the BCS. I bet some teams are happy about that. I would not want to play them or UGA right now. They are both looking very tough.

LSU is still living off the hype they created at the beginning of the season.

Fact is, they are about the only team among NC contenders that could get beat by OSU.

There D has problems(mainly zone protection), and Pelini going to Nebraska wont help any. That and their knack for playing down to their competition should level the playing field.

Make no mistake, I think LSU should win and should run away with it if they matched up, but I can also see where theyd lose if they play like they played at the SECCG. I dont want an SEC school to lose a matchup with them, it would make usw all look bad right now.

georgia snubbing

Lsu will play instead of Georgia because they deserve to. Georgia didn't win the sec east much less the championship! quit hating.

Some of the smack is getting tiresome ranger.

The one thing I don't agree with is the perception that UGA shouldn't go because they are not the SEC reprasentatives and LSU is. Heck, Ohio State doesn't even play a championship game, but you don't hear ESPN and Herbstreit mention that.

This is OSU's year.

Youngstown State (7-4)W
Akron (4-8 )W
Washington (4-9 )W the worst team in the PAC 10
Northwestern (6-6)W
Minnesota (1-11)W the worst team in the Big 10
Purdue (7-5)W
Kent State (3-9 )W possibly the worst team in the MAC
MSU (7-5)W
PSU (8-4)W
Wisconsin (9-3 )W
Illinois (9-3)L
Michigan ( 8-4)W

So OSu plays 6 teams with winning records (not counting Youngstown State). Two teams won 9 games, two won 8 games and two teams won 7 games.

Of those 5 teams OSU went 4-1 with a loss to Illinois while only 3 of their games were on the road. Of their 12 games only 5 were on the road.

Not the most impressive resume in my humble opinion.

it wouldnt be a snub. Georgia didnt win the SEC, period. they are out.

people, the people in control of the BCS have repeatedly chosen not require teams to win their conference in order to play for the national title. so, according to the "system" as it currently exists, Georgia is legitimately allowed to play since they are one of the two next highest ranked teams in the BCS rankings. i say, without a playoff, this is just as fair as requiring BCS title participants be conference champions.

After losing to UT and USC, they are not deserving!

Exactly!

That is the dumbest excuse. LSU is #1 two weeks ago and they lose again and fall to #7. They beat a very average UT team and they deserve to be # 2? What a joke. If Georgia doesn't deserve to be there, why the hell do you rank them #4 two weeks ago and then say they aren't deserving? I'm not watching the game this year. The NCAA is as corrupt as our government. Georgia is the best team from the SEC today!

Ga should have beaten Tenn and USC, then there would be no questions!! This very average team that LSU just beat, beat Uga!

LSU lost 2 games as well Lanta. What makes them so deserving?

I'm sorry but the LSU team that I've seen since the Auburn game will not blow out tOSU. That is why they will probably be matched up with tOSU in the NC game: LSU and VT are the only two teams ranked in the top six that OSU would have a shot at beating.

A lot of people (media and pollsters) lost face last season with the Florida debacle over tOSU.

They don't want to see a repeat of that should tOSU be pitted against Georgia, Oklahoma, or Southern Cal.

The mighty Big 10 reputation would take another hard shot if any three of the scenarios would transpire. But it won't happen.

I think it's nuts that 11 of the 60 coaches voted LSU number 1. That's just blatant padding, not voting their conscience.

Ain't that the truth. How many of those 60 coaches have watched LSU actually play besides seeing the ESPN media blitz of LSU defying defeat a few times since the Florida game?
