🏈 Andre Smith troubles at the combine...(Fixed Link)

This stuff is really getting out there. My wife, who doesn't follow football and could care less about Alabama, just came running up to me asking about "my boy" Andre Smith and what his problem is.

What his problem is...?

Smarts, he has. As in book smarts.

Common sense? Logic based decision making capability? He's severely lacking.

He's got immaturity, it appears, in great supply.

He's got his issues with "truth," but I digress.

Literally, he has 3 weeks to make close to a 30MM dollar difference in his life.

Yeah, I tried to tippy-toe around it. :D She'd read some stuff and I just basically told her that yeah I think he might be a little out of shape and he didn't want to hurt his draft stock by working out in the combine. He's planning on hitting Pro Day next month, so that should help him some, but overall, I feel like he's getting some bad advice right now. Maybe not? Maybe it's just him, but it seems like something is being orchestrated here. I guess we'll get the answer to the multi-million dollar question soon enough.

While there could always be a ploy involved, I really don't like what's going on superficially right now with Andre.

It seems to me that Andre is letting all this media attention and the top 10 draft pick stuff get to his head. I suspect he was out of shape and one of his "handlers" told him lets cruise we'll go to pro day and do our thing.

Either way he better get smarter or find a better supporting cast or hes going to be making a 30mm mistake.

Bad advice?

I'd think, if he was told to skip the combine because he was out of shape and get back to work out that might be good advice.

I'm to the point I don't believe him.

Consider...

Stories have him out of shape. He says, he's still in same shape and weight he has been. Then, in a "lapse of judgment" he doesn't tell anyone he's leaving the combine so he can get back and prepare (workout) for Pro-day in Tuscaloosa.

I don't recall the exact $ figures I looked up yesterday morning. So, this is approximate, at best.

From the different combine reports out yesterday the speculation was he could have dropped from a #1 tackle selection to 4th or 5th. Last year, the difference between the 1st to 4th position was to the tune of 30 million.

Considering he's got 3 weeks before the pro day I look at the next three weeks as meaning a lot of money.

To me, 3 weeks to hone your body back in the shape it was over a month and a half ago? Tall order.

kind of a stretch here, but maybe Andre is more interested in the thought of having a ring than getting the money right now...the further he falls in the draft the better chance he has to go to a team that has more of an opportunity to be in contention for the super bowl than a team that is picking in the top 5. he knows that he'll end up making the money eventually, barring injury.

i HIGHLY doubt thats what happened, but you've gotta look at it from all angles. lol. :)

He weighed in at 332 yesterday. Two of the guys on TV said that they saw him a month ago and he was at least 350. He also measured out at 6'4". I don't think the physical stuff hurt him, but now everyone thinks he's a wackjob. The announcers said he's still the #3 OT fwiw.

I think the guy from Baylor is just better with or without the shenanigans from Andre. That guy looked nasty.

Is it possible that he already has a deal (or, at some point, thought he had a deal) with Detroit as the number one pick? Maybe, all of the sudden, being in shape and being present at the combine became important because something fell through.

"Master plan is sign with Shula and the Jags...this is all orchestrated by Shula."

- a tongue in cheek post I ran across yesterday.

You forgot one important piece of logic. Andre is from Alabama therefore he is the best :o.

This stuff will go away if he has a good pro -day, to be honest, its kinda silly to judge these guy with that degree of sensitivity for something like that. I mean, T.O. is a baby , Chad Johnson is emo, Plaxico Burresss got busted for illegal possession of a hand gun, Travis and Chris Henry for pot, and Pacman........, and Andre went to train without telling anyone.

It isnt hard to tell which doesnt fit, if they have character questions they can always call Saban. That said, teams that were going to pick him him early that arent now are really retarded.

Saw that one too. LOL, I love Mike Shula and all, but Mike couldn't orchestrate anything if his life depended on it.
