RATED as top prospect and PROJECTED as #1 are not necessarily the same thing. If Detroit, or whoever eventually ends up with that first pick, does not need an OL it could be someone else.

That said, he very well could be #1 overall, which begs the question WHO was the last #1 overall from Bama?

Smartest guy in the draft: Mark Sanchez.

Smartest guy that could have been in the draft, isn't even gonna be there. Instead, he's going to Oxford, and no, I ain't talking about Mississippi.

Florida State’s Rolle to Skip NFL Draft for Rhodes Scholarship

Speaking of Oxford, I was surprised Hardy didn't make the jump.

I hear you, Tim, but it's true Hardy fashion--never know from week to week if he's gonna show up or not.

QB Harry Gilmer was our only overall #1 in 1948 for the Redskins. Other notable high selections...

Derrick Thomas was the fourth pick in '89. Cornelius Bennett was #2 in '87. Jon Hand was #4 in '86. E.J. Junior was #5 in '81. Barry Krauss was #6 in '79. Richard Todd was #6 in '76. Wilbur Jackson was #9 in '74. John Hannah was #4 in '73.

I've heard that Detroit may try and get 2 offensive linemen as their first 2 picks... with Smitty being the first overall taken. Basically, what good is a qb (Stafford especially) if you can't protect him.

Winner, Winner. Chicken Dinner.
Circle gets the Square.
Thanks Scott.

Heard from who?

The reservation that I have about drafting two OL first is that this is akin to starting two Freshmen in College. You can't expect success year one. They may have potential, but for now they are rookies that are protecting the QB that you secured after you burned your two first picks.

My question is how smart will the pick be with the new personnel folks?

I hope Andre is picked #1 and gets more money than he knows what to do with...and spends his whole career in Detroit. He may be about to become an extremely wealthy young man, but he's played on his last winning team.
