🏈 Andre Smith Projected #1 Pick

I hope Andre is picked #1 and gets more money than he knows what to do with...and spends his whole career in Detroit. He may be about to become an extremely wealthy young man, but he's played on his last winning team.

Five years ago did you think the Arizona Cardinals would be in the Super Bowl?

No I would not and I expect Detroit to take a qb....

No, but I think Detroit is in much worse shape as an organization.

It's interesting that Bama had no players selected in the top ten during the 60's.

Possibly the greatest decade of football by any team, ever.

The only decade greater than Bama in the sixties was Bama in the seventies.
:D :D
Joe Namath was the AFL #1 pick in the 1965 draft.

We certainly had some players in the sixties who were impact players in the NFL. Namath, Stabler, Jordan, Neighbors, Homan, Perkins all come to mind.

I've heard that Detroit may try and get 2 offensive linemen as their first 2 picks... with Smitty being the first overall taken. Basically, what good is a qb (Stafford especially) if you can't protect him.

Heard from who?

The reservation that I have about drafting two OL first is that this is akin to starting two Freshmen in College. You can't expect success year one. They may have potential, but for now they are rookies that are protecting the QB that you secured after you burned your two first picks.

My question is how smart will the pick be with the new personnel folks?

A couple different draft analyzers as well as Detroit fans. Just as many or more have said a qb though.

As for your other point... what does that have to do with anything? You could say the same thing about a qb. You can begin building the foundation of an offense (the offensive line) or get receivers and a qb, and never be able to do anything with them. Are you trying to say guys like Smith and Oher couldn't play as rookies, but Stafford could??!! Please tell me you're not.

He will not be the #1 pick because Detroit MUST take a QB. I'm guessing Stafford will be the #1 pick but it may be Sanchez, Daniels, or Harrell.

If you have watched any of the Senior Bowl practices taking Harrel or Daniels at # 1 would be a joke. I would take Stafford, then Bomar.

Okay, then I'll make it worse. Ten years ago, did you think the Cardinals would be in a Super Bowl?

The league is designed to heal wounded teams. Some may take longer than others, but eventually every team will be a winner for at least one season.

Except maybe the Lions.
