The Temple Owls put a butt whipping on the Vanderbilt Commodores down in Nashville on Thursday night by a crazy final of 37-7.

That's very, very encouraging for the Temple faithful to see their team bounce back from an atrocious season to crush an SEC team on the road to start 2014. It was the Owls first victory on the gridiron over an SEC team since way back in 1938.

And while the Cherry Crusaders savor the win, we can all simply enjoy the first fat guy touchdown of the college football season.



Defensive lineman Averee Robinson recovered a fumble and took it over half of the field to paydirt in the final minute of the first half that helped Temple take a commanding lead. The play would be reviewed but the fat guy touchdown would stand much to the delight of Twitter.

(And with all due respect to Mr. Robinson, he's listed at 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds on the TU sports website. Not exactly Nate Newton by any means. But I think we all lovingly call a lineman scoring a TD a "fat guy touchdown.")

Temple of all thing, and in Vandy home. 37-7 now that of all thing should be the most embarrassing part of all of this.

This new mix of playing other conferences is going to change how we perceive other teams in the future. Some of those teams look good against anybody. Remember year before last GA Southern played us harder than other SEC teams. It doesn't mean they are going to take over but it does mean bigger conferences will need to pay more attention to those teams.
