🏈 GAME THREAD 🏈 The 2026 Bowl Games / CFB Playoffs:

Before Bama played IU I pointed to the experience factor favoring IU. Some didn't agree, but that's neither here or there.

So, just for old times sake.

#7, Louis Moore, a DB for IU? He played with Trevor Lawrence.

Did you know there isn't much difference in the average age of the Green Bay Packers, or the Philedelphia Eagles, and Indiana? Literally, a matter of a few months.

What is the average age of IU starters? Team?

While you at it, average age of UA starters, and team?
If I didn't clean my cache and history last night/this morning I could tell you off the rip. Now, I have to try to remember where I read the numbers. I have seen them mentioned at least twice; different analytics.

During any given day I read A LOT, about A LOT, so you'll have to forgive me as I try to remember. I worked about three hours this morning and started getting the smoker ready about four. There are certain things I've done today that are not conducive to recollection. That doesn't mean I won't be able to find it later.

Aside from the smoker and meats...staring at my backyard knowing I need to get out there and mow. Yes, the grass, and also to get some leaves up. It's 1/10...and the centipede back there is still growing.

There’s varying info out there on the average age of players on NFL teams, but 25.2 years seems to be fairly accurate for the youngest team. These articles were published a day apart just as the 53-man rosters were finalized in late August and used Sept 4 season start date to calculate DOB.

This is a Philly website.

And this is from a site not affiliated with a team, Bookies.com. They note they leveraged many sites and even ChatGPT to gather birthdays for the 1,696 players on rosters across the league.

Nearly one year delta between the two sites just for the lowest aged team. So somebody’s data is bad. Both note age is for opening day 53-man roster.

Found another published the same day down in Dallas. They reference the Philly article for their data.

It’s tough to find a detailed average age calculation for Indiana’s team but I read a lot of 22.5 and 23 in the search results. Rounded? Possibly. But I don’t know if that’s as of today, or backed up to the start date of the season, which would need to be the date used in order to compare to the NFL numbers (that was 4+ months ago).

So it looks like Indiana is anywhere from 2 to 3 years younger than the Pack. Low end 25.2 - 23 =2.2 years if calculated same day. High end 25.2 - 22.5 =2.7 + 4 months based on date of calculating = ~3 years.

I know who posted the numbers I mentioned. I know his last name starts with an "M." He's on one of the college football desks but it's not pre-game: it's a few mid-week shows. I can see his face. Hell, I tried "M" on everyone I follow in different social media accounts and it's not there.

23.5 avg. is stuck in my head as well.

I was sitting on my front porch when I read the numbers...I remember smirking at hearing some cats fighting. But I can't remember that guys name!!! I want to say Caleb. I don't know a Caleb.

That's the point, Indiana is that good, not us, Indiana is playing at a standard that we use to. Can we get back to that level? Only time will tell, IMHO, losing 4 next year and looking like we did doing it this year, CKD may or may not get another year for 2027. 🤷‍♂️
For Bama, do you think he would deserve another season? Lose three more and a choke in a Bowl game, I think I'd be in favor of an adjustment.

ROLL TIDE!

I am not that old BUT

I don't recall a QB throwing every pass into tight windows the IU guy
I don't recall receivers catching every pass no matter the difficulty

This team has physical ability, and their football IQ is off the charts
There roster balance is really good and that matters

The coaching staff is above excellent and they're all business

If the IU offensive line can get a stalemate with the UM DL, they win the game.

Got to give the other fella credit when they are doing great things. Salute to Cig and IU.

They’ve also gone nearly 1,000 offensive snaps without a lost fumble, or at least that’s a stat I saw. That’s incredible.
