When does the agreed upon salary cap go into effect? July something? Most big time recruits will be wishy washy on where they commit (seeking their best deal) until the cap happens. Then the NIL will become a more important influence on where recruits commit. It's going to be a screwed up mess in my opinion. No more walk ons? Smaller rosters? How many 4 and 5 star recruits can your team afford? How many 2 and 3 star and no star players will fill out your roster and play for you just for the education and the great experience of playing for University of .................
and a chance to learn and be developed by Coach .......................... ? Will NIL be unlimited? Just individual deals will have to be approved through a clearing house? That should work pretty smooth.

That's a loaded statement..... Lot to process here...

I'm starting to see this "when the ink is dry" narrative emerge again...with nothing to back that up.

I agree 1000%. Signing on the doted line doesn't mean anything at all anymore. Especially with the options of the transfer portal.

What is FAR MORE impressive to me is that this teams roster didn't have any entries into the transfer portal after spring. I'm a bit gun shy to actually say there is team / 'Bama loyalty but daggum, ZERO transfer portals..... That can't be anything but positive. REFRESHING to see.

I’m not exactly sure how the “salary cap” works, but I’d imagine it’s an easy thing for teams to skirt.

The pros are able to have a salary cap because they draft their players. Players don’t get to choose where they go in the NFL.

In college, teams are recruiting and incentivizing players to come to their school. And the way NIL is set up, any fan can literally throw out any amount of money for a player to come to their school. Prime example of this is Bryce Underwood and Michigan.

The college system, while awesome, is complicated by the recruiting aspect. I don’t expect much to change with this “salary cap” they’ve put in place.

Alabama will rarely, if ever, outspend Oregon/Phil Knight.

Don't forcus on competing with Oregon... Focus on building within the program and let culture speak for itself.

this needs to be looked at, again, after the first of next month. That's the reason TTU is getting away with what they're doing in softball ...the deadline of the first.

These two posts quote are unrelated. But, are. It's my opinion that the stability of the roster is overlooked. Ignored.

He’s in his office (in the stadium) more than people realize. But this weekend he did DeBoer a solid and spent some time with recruits while DeBoer (and some staff) were out of town at the funeral for Keelon Russell’s sister.
