Another big weekend for Bama. Two guys I hope we make a big impression on are Nick Abrams and Elijah Golden. Abrams is hell of a linebacker, guy plays like he wants to kill someone. Has Violent hands when he's stacking and shedding off a block. he'll fill his gap and play downhill against the run, and will absolutely punish a guy for running into his gap. His closing speed is elite, he will run you down. Doesn't matter if it's sideline to sideline, or just in the open field, he's likely going to get that tackle on the ball carrier. He's also good playing in coverage as well.

And I don't know who's coached him up, but he's already got a high football IQ. The guy is good at using his eyes to read his keys and diagnose a play down quickly. The kid will see an indicator, pulling lineman, lineman kicking out for a screen, etc... and will immediately shoot down and stuff the play. He's also pretty sound mechanically already in high school. Whether it hand placement when taking on a block, keeping his shoulders squared, low pad level, not overrunning plays and misfitting gaps, false stepping.... the kid plays at a high level.

It is still early but have we really gotten any true studs committed so far? One of those true stud names that carries the momentum for the class. A Julio Jones type that the rest of the college football world wants. All I have seen so far is a few 3 star commits. Hope I missed some but If that is the case this Morgan guy needs to step up and earn his pay.
Posted back in February.... @mando still feel like he needs to earn his pay?

Not meaning to move the goal post but when the ink dries and we see it consistently done year in and year out then yes. Expect high characer kids with great talent brought into the program year in and year out. That is the Bama standard and what it take to sustain excellence...

Current Bama Commits:
  1. CB Zyan Gibson, 5-foot-11, 177 lbs. - Gadsden, Alabama (Committed 12/24/2024)
  2. CB Jorden Edmonds, 6-foot-2, 175 lbs. - Marietta, Georgia (Committed 03/26/2025)
  3. EDGE Jamarion Matthews, 6-foot-2, 240 lbs. - Gainesville, Georgia (Committed 02/21/2025)
  4. EDGE Kamhariyan Johnson, 6-foot-4, 260 lbs. - Muscle Shoals, Alabama (Committed 04/12/2025)
  5. OL Chris Booker, 6-foot-4, 285 lbs. - Atlanta, Georgia (Committed 02/20/2025)
  6. OL Sam Utu, 6-foot-4, 320 lbs. - Orange, California (Committed 06/09/2025)
Expecting us to make a run between now and August. I think we'll have 15-20 commits by the start of fall camp.

I thought he was a top target for us? Assumed they just paid more.
The only time I've mentioned him was in reference to the name Jett. They had two in town recently and Bama hasn't had a guy named Jett on their roster...in history. I thought it was "unique."

It's been an Oregon battle since...geez, the first time I read about him? Another Oregon battle is with Arrington: he is an interesting fella. Morgan is a WR to watch.

On another note:

I'm starting to see this "when the ink is dry" narrative emerge again...with nothing to back that up.

I don't like the kids talking so much. But, they aren't.
Until the inks dries...when we've seen how loyal players have been to the staff.

I'm reminded of just after he was hired and people saying, "he can't recruit the south." My only comment was WHEN have you seen a coach coming from a small town like he did in the mid-west and not be able to talk to people?

When does the agreed upon salary cap go into effect? July something? Most big time recruits will be wishy washy on where they commit (seeking their best deal) until the cap happens. Then the NIL will become a more important influence on where recruits commit. It's going to be a screwed up mess in my opinion. No more walk ons? Smaller rosters? How many 4 and 5 star recruits can your team afford? How many 2 and 3 star and no star players will fill out your roster and play for you just for the education and the great experience of playing for University of .................
and a chance to learn and be developed by Coach .......................... ? Will NIL be unlimited? Just individual deals will have to be approved through a clearing house? That should work pretty smooth. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ
