📝 🏈 '26 Class Recruiting Updates

That's impressive
When's the last time you bought a 40?

'87, maybe '88 for me. In Memphis, there was a convenience store just down the street that sold Coors and Coors Light 40's for $0.99. Banquet. Hrm...been a minute. Think about that...$1.98 for a little over a six pack. A big ass bag of tortilla chips was a $1. Frito Lay Jalepeno dip, $1.99.

Five bucks and some change.

I moved to the other side of town in '87 and they didn't sell 40's in that area. Ironically, the ethnicity of the neighborhoods weren't different. I just had a house in the nice part of the "other side of the tracks" before moving into a condo. The area close to me was called "Nutbush." That should be enough of a descriptor.

(Reminds me. At that time you couldn't buy beer from midnight Saturday until noon Sunday. In both locations I found a story (Indian owned) that would sell to me in "off hours." When I moved to Germantown/East Memphis I knew the owner well enough he invited me over for dinner quite often. She—his wife—used to make a Vada pav that you would kill someone over. My mouth is watering thinking about her butter chicken. A MEAN Samosa.)

I don't remember but it's been a while for sure. I prefer ponies, never get off ice cold.

It is still early but have we really gotten any true studs committed so far? One of those true stud names that carries the momentum for the class. A Julio Jones type that the rest of the college football world wants. All I have seen so far is a few 3 star commits. Hope I missed some but If that is the case this Morgan guy needs to step up and earn his pay.
Five committed for the next class; one five, four four stars. 🤷‍♂️

Last year's class was one of the better ones we've seen at Bama in the last several years. I have NO doubt this staff can recruit and recruit with the best of them.

The question left to be answered is development in the trenches. The guys will be there. (IE: I mentioned Utu above this post...a commit from him likely leads to the same with Lee (another 4 star OL.)

Five verbals at the beginning of June may seem like a small number: it really isn't uncommon. And, we have to remember, football recruiting staffs are 'changing lanes' in the middle of a recruiting season with the settlement passing the House. (I'm not suggesting they aren't prepared. I am saying "moving cautiously" as the dust settles.)
