| RECRUIT šŸˆ 2024 Transfer Portal Thread - DB DaShawn Jones has Committed to Alabama

He doinked the 50-yarder in our game, but had a really strong year as a freshman. Has he gotten a lot of heat over the miss by team and fans?

He had a VERY good year. Just when I thought they graduated their last kicker Podlesney (real good kicker), they got this guy that was pretty automatic for them.

Really makes me wonder why he would leave. I don't think Georgia is going anywhere, so why leave when you're the starter? Thinking maybe he is treated badly or got a bad taste from fans hounding him?

Yea, the kicker had a bad start to the year, but then hit 16 straight until he missed that one. To be fair his career long was 48 yards. So once the penalty happened, I wondered why Georgia didn't try to pin us deep.

Iā€™m glad we donā€™t have to play him now. Crazy how Oregon keeps getting these dudes. What Lanning did with Bo Nix was amazing, maybe he always has been that dude, but Auburn had their heads in their asses
Malzahn is hired at UCF. Dillon transfers.
Nix was at Auburn, under Malzahn. He transfers.

Here's a "we told you so." Malzahn can't develop quarterbacks.

I heard on the radio that there are 95 FBS QBs in the portal now. And probably 1200 or so players overall. There's 120 FBS teams, and I don't know how many FCS, DIV 2 and DIV 3 teams. Where do these kids think they are going to go? Do they realistically believe that they are going to start at another school? For every Dillon Gabriel or Kyle MCCord, there's a dozen Tyler Buchners, or Robbie Ashfords. It's insane. These kids are getting really bad advice. Or they are not listening to the good advice. But the majority of these kids will be sitting at home next fall wondering if they will ever get another chance.

I have not seen a stat on this but I am sure there is one somewhere. I suspect most of these kids never do play again certainly not at any of the power 5 schools.

Damn Oregon goes from Bo Nix to this dude? Not skipping a beat
Think about that 2nd string QB? He sees old Bo come in and become the starter, then he sees old Bo leave! Thinking now it's his turn, but now old Dillon is coming in and is already being told he will replace old BO!

The number is little off. Some transferring for opportunity to compete for playing time. Some just want a change of scenary. Some will return back to school. When it's said and done, I think we'll see around 20-40 QBS landing somewhere.

I can't remember the stat, but saw it last year after silly season was over for the transfer portal. Again, not exact, but something like 80+% of the transfers end up dropping down a division in order to be able to play. It is truly, "the grass ain't always greener" scenario.
