Not saying this is the case on this board. This is just something I have noticed all over. If a person is not an Alumni of the said school he/she cheers from why do they get disrespected.

I did not realize that you had to be an Alum to have an opinion of who you like. My circumstances did not allow me to go to college. At an early age I had to help take care of my parents who were disabled. Everytime I get into a conversation with other people about college football that is what it always comes down to. They say things like you probably didn't even go to Alabama. No I didn't, but my blood runs Crimson I can promise you.

I have been a die hard Bama fan since I can remember. Good upbringing I guess. I am raising my kids the same way and I hope to get them into Alabama. Even though it didn't work out for me. I don't mean for this to sound like a poor me story because given the chance I would have still chosen to help my family.

I just want people to think sometimes that you didn't have to go the school to love it.

I see alot of people say that too. I didnt go to Alabama, neither did my family but I can remember them watching Bama games since I was little. So how are you suppose to root for NFL teams since you didnt play for the team you root for?

How do you vote for Mayor/Senator/Gov......etc if you didnt go to school with them. Why wear Ralph Lauren when that is not your name. People are stupid, plain and simple. They are also jealous and look for anything to make them feel better.

I think it has to do with so many of the most diehard crazies that they show on TV all of the time, you know the ones, they'll do anything and everything to make a fool out of themselves. Not always, but 80% of the time, those people never went to the school (not counting the fraternity boys that are just having a good time). It's those fanatics (where the word "fan" comes from) that give the other 97% of the total fan population a bad name. So there you have whenever you stand up for your favorite team, moronic fans of the other team wants to throw you into that category.

I was the first one to go to BAMA and graduate from the Capstone in my family. My family, though, has bled Crimson and White from the time I was born. Alot of the rival teams' fans are the loudest to say that "you probably didn't even go there." I grew up watching the Coach Bryant show and quite honestly, didn't know that there was another school in this state. My parents graduated from Saint Bernard in Cullman in the early 70s. I knew from the time that there was a thing as college, that I would go to BAMA. You just have to take what people say with a grain of salt. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and they all ............... well you know!!!!

That is the dumbest argument in the world. Every fan of every school did not attend that school. Look at the Tennessee fan base- I rest my case. Even further to prove a point in conversations like that address professional teams. How can one be a fan of say the Dallas Cowboys, the Boston Celtics, and the LA Dodgers if they never lived in those cities or were born there? It's the same thing. You are a fan of a team because you like the team or they won a title.

Now my whole family (except one, you know there is always one) are Alabama fans. I was the first one to graduate from Alabama. And by the way my uncle that is the Auburn fan never went to Auburn and his two sons that are now Auburn fans never went to Auburn.

I know alot of college football fans and yes alot of them did go to the school they cheer for. However I find alot of them that went to smaller schools and yet they cheer for a bigger school. My director at work is one of the smartest guys I know and graduated from a small college where he played DB in Div 2AA. However since he is from Ohio he is an Ohio State fan and no one gives him heck for it. I have several examples of why that argument is ridiculous.

Before I graduated from Alabama if someone pulled that out on me I would say you are absolutely right I did not goto UA because I was too busy allowing you to attend college while I was serving in the US Army. Not everyone has the same chance and shouldnt be frowned upon because someone else wants to feel superior. Tell them to get over themselves.

PS- sorry for the rant.
