🏀 All time @AlabamaMBB NCAA tourney appearances by coach:

He's two for three. He definitely gets a pass for his first season, but he's two for three. Next year, he'll be three for four.

Oats is the best coach we've had since Sanderson. After suffering through Avery and Grant, we finally have a guy who cares about recruiting and believes in his philosophy. The only question mark is if he can get guys to play defense. Who knows? It took Pearl four years to finally get guys to buy in to play some defense. We played our best basketball late last season, which is what Oats preaches.

I'm happy we're in the tournament this season, but I'm going to be really disappointed if we get bounced in the first round. Due to the inconsistencies though, I absolutely could see it.

Grant killed Bama BB for me. At least Avery had a personality.

I'll never forgive Battle for allowing Grant to coach for as long as he did. Even in the end, Grant had to tell him "you do what you need to do" when Battle was considering giving him another year.

Avery was good for promoting the program and getting us in conversation for the tournament. But he lacked the Xs and Os to really push the program to the next level like Oats has. Byrne had to let him go his final year because there was about to be a mass exodus in the roster.

Technically yes, but we weren't making it his first season if there was a post season. I like the trajectory of our program.
They were capable of making a run in the tournament. They played some good basketball in several games that season including a few games against top ranked teams. I doubt they would have. I think they would have beaten UT to open the tournament.

I don't disagree that we could have beaten Tennessee. But late that season, we did not finish well. We beat LSU, only to follow it up with a home loss to A&M. Then lost another home game to Vanderbilt, which put us firmly off the bubble.

This year's squad has a chance to make a deep run, but I'm fully expecting to be disappointed.
