really efficient start to the year for G-Mac but the Heisman award doesnt go to the most efficient QB. his yardage and TDs (despite not playing any good D's) is what make him have the heisman talk.

That's understood, but wasn't my point. All the talk this week will be how good Mallet is and how he's thrown for a gazillion yards, but few will mention that McElroy is leading the nation in passing efficiency. Mallet is a great quarterback, but he's made poor decisions when put in pressure situations. Same as last year, all the talk was about Mallet. In that game, Mallet ended up 12-35 for 160 yards a TD and an interception. Quietly, McElroy 17-24 for 291 yards and 3 touchdowns.

I can see the same thing (maybe not the exact same numbers) happening again this year. Mallet will get all the talk, McElroy will have the better day.

I hope so and I think G-Mac has better weapons than Mallett too. How many QB's would KILL for that set of backs and receivers?

Ok so serious question here guys about comparing GMAC and Mallet.... I actually have both of them on my fantasy team right now and I have been starting Mallet and he has obviously done REALLY well for me but I have been questioning myself about swapping them for this week. Trying not to have a homer pick and just go with who gives me the best chance to win, who do you go with?

I wouldn't say that. Mallet has the size and arm strength to back up a lot of his hype, and I think he's a very good passer. On the right team, he could be unstoppable, but not against us.

But both are the product of hype machines. ESPN and the boys hyped up Snead last year as the next great QB, Heisman candidate, and the next Favre. Yes Mallet is more talented as a pure passing QB than Mallet, but he did not perform well on the road last year and the Hogs dropped 5 games. Why does he deserve the praise already? I havent seen any better development in their running game or defense from last year. Yes they beat a down and bad UGA this week-barely. UGA with better WR's, a running game, and a better choice on some play calls might have pulled that one out.

I'm not saying at all this game is going to be easy. I fully expect Ark to score. But I'm not sold on the Heisman hype. Besides if the shoestring kid in Michigan keeps it up he will walk away with the award. He's getting the press, and gaudy stats.

Let me interject here that Mallett transferred back home to Arkansas from Michigan and he's 6'7".
I just wanted to be the first to say that...you know, keeping ahead of the announcers. :lance:

Seriously though, I watched the Ar-Ga game and I was feeling confident about this game until I saw our defense at Duke. Not slamming them and the progress they've made so far this year by any means, but I really hope they solidify before Saturday. On the bright side, Arky's D is BAD. Worse than last year bad. GMac will tear them apart.

Mallett is also in a system that fully exploits his talents. If he was in our system here, he doesn't have the stats that he has now. His numbers would be very similar to Greg's. Mallett will no doubt excel at the next level. IMHO, I think that ESPN has been blowing Jake Locker up for the Heisman before he got blown up by the Black Shirts of Nebraska. 4-20 at home!! Are you kidding me? Mallett has flown under the radar in comparison to hype that the Locker kid has gotten.

lol Locker's heisman hopes were blown up before that game i think. lol did u hear Desmond Howard's remarks about drinking the purple kool aid hype about Locker and then throwing it all back up after his crappy game a week ago (i think it was a week ago)? lmao priceless
