🏈 All this hype about the Arkansas game...

I'm done with it. THis is Arkansas we are playing, and I expect them to come prepared to play. Petrino will have his best squad on the field, no doubt. Here's the thing though....Bama is still better. We are going to win,and we are going to put a pig in a poke before it's all over.

All this media hype before this game. Mainly because we are Number 1. How much hype can the Florida game get next week, after all this hype this week? What about S. Carolina, who might also be a top 10 team by this time next week?

I hear ya. Lot's of smack talk on other forums. Lots of talking heads saying they'll win or we win by 1 or 2.

I think we'll smash 'em.

Each week they'll hype - and each week we'll whip some tail. At the end, there will be no question who's number 1.

I have been saying for a while that the game I am most concerned about is South Carolina. They are much more physical than Arkansas, have a very solid defense, and this looks like Spurrier's best team since he's been at USCe. Plus its in their house, and they have a week off while we will be coming off the Florida game.

Just got to knock them off one at a time. The hype is up very early this year because we're #1. Although we were top 5 all last year, we had Florida and Texas (usually) ahead of us to get the attention. These next three weeks, particularly if SC continues to win, will be almost unbearable, then we'll get a lull with Ole Miss, UT and bye before what will probably be a huge showdown with LSU.

If the hype's not huge, it's because we're not winning.

i completely agree

i agree about south carolina. their defense is very good and their offense is adequate both running and passing. they remind me of our 2005 team... except their QBs can run.

Guys we need to act like we've been here before! Because WE HAVE!
I just think it's been so damn long that we don't remember what it's like to be THE top dog
in college football year in and year out. We we better start remembering quick cause those days have returned.
When this season started coming of the Texas win, the heisman and a #1 ranking....
both the team and we as fans all knew that everything Crimson was going to have a target on it.
And it's not going to stop until we beat whatever team makes it through to face us in WEEK 14.
So lets suck it up, strap up and get behind our guys, and let the other guys do what they do.
Class will ignore all the trash talk. We cant affect what the other team does, or how thier fans act or
the BS that coms out of thier mouths. All we can do is do what we do. We don't need to worry about things we can't affect.
Roll Tide. :-)

I agree, AFF.

After watching the replay of the Georgia-Arky game, I'm not impressed with what I saw. We just have to minimize any chance of Mallet & Company coming up with a big play for points, and this game won't even be close. With some of the holes I saw the Georgia backs run through, I do believe our offense, especially the running game, will have its way with the porkers.

Flashback to last year's SECCG: Remember the camera shots of Tebow standing helplessly on the sideline much of the second half while Bama's offense ate up ground and clock. It will be deja vu all over again; only this time it will be Mallet watching from the sideline--he may not cry but he will have that look of helplessness as Bama mounts a couple of double-digit-play drives that consume a lot of clock.

remember, if they DON"T hype up the game, who'll watch besides the fans of each school? It's all about ratings, and it doesn't matter how big the tide and hog faithful are, there's a big rest of the country out there.

If we continue to win it will only get bigger and more hype from here.

If we win tomorrow the Florida game will be the game of the year until the South Carolina game and the LSU game and the Auburn game and hopefully the SECCG and NC game....get the point?

A couple of pointers:

1st. Anybody who has a #1 ranking will always be a major focus for each team.

2nd. If the competition has a plausible chance at winning then the hype skyrockets.

3rd. Despite what we think, most folks think that Alabama got #1 by default due to lack of other #1's, so most are just waiting for us to lose & say "It was just a matter of time."

4th. Most people know that 'Bama is going to run all over that hog defense. We know it, they know it, the hogs know it... So, the only way this game gets interesting is IF Mallet actually plays a decent game. However, this cat better be great b/c he isn't going to have that many chances to score since the 'Bama offense is going to hog the clock. If our defense plays anything like last years game, it will be ugly.

5th. CBP asked for a Red-Out... the HEAD-Coach :no-no:. What do you CNS is concentrating on? Enough said.

^^THIS^^

The only concern I have is our inability this year to get to the QB. We need to at least pressure Mallett and not let him sit in the pocket for more than 1 or 2 seconds. If he does have time to throw, they score 24 - but we still score 45. If he doesn't have time to throw, they score 10.

I agree this game won't be close that awesome pass rush is going to dominate Oh I forgot you guys don't have a pass rush. That secondary plays light on they leave everybody open and when the QB throws a bad pass they celebrate. I wonder what a real QB will do you will see Saturday afternoon :nana:

I'm guessing this is probably one of your lasts posts before you mysteriously disappear after your loss. I love how you can determine that we don't have a pass rush when we've held back the dogs the last 3 games. I hope Mallett starts thinking we can't get to him too, will make it all the more easier to get in his head when his ass is on the turf.

If we lose and that's a big if i will come back and eat crows i know that's not happening:nana:

With Mallett, a defense does not actually have to be in his face; just force him to throw while he's moving to his left, and the job gets down. There's a big drop off in accuracy when Mallet goes to his left.

Still, come Saturday Mr. Mallet will feel pressure he hadn't felt since his career low passing total of 160 yards against Bama last year. Like I said before, he will spend a lot of the afternoon watching from the sideline as the Bama offense has its way with the Razorback defense in the second half.

Btw, all three of Mallett's touchdown passes against Georgia came on badly blown coverages; I don't foresee that happening in this game.

"Real" QB's don't lose.

What the Hawgs and the rest of the country is going to find out today is something that many 'Bama fans already know: this team is actually better than the one that went 14-0 and kicked your butt last year.

I can't blame y'all for being hopeful; heck you're 3-0. But you don't quite understand what's about to happen to your team this week. Saban will run away with it early and pull out the starters in the second half to prepare for the next couple of weeks. 45-10 and it won't be that close.

Pork - it's what's for dinner. :nana:
