🏈 All four QB's got reps last night...

Anything can happen but will it lol. Should be interesting moving forward. I just have a hard time believing Coker is the safe choice.
From the stuff I have seen posted, which is through message boards mostly so mostly from you haha, Coker doesn't seem to be remotely close to a safe choice. A safe choice sounds like Morris, a la GMac 2.0.

Skimming through most stuff I missed this weekend, I saw some good points about the QB and our schedule... at some point, the QB will have to make some plays, and possibly put the game on his shoulders. I don't believe Coker has the mental maturity to handle that right now. He's the old man in the group and should be the leader that the Barnett's and Cornwell's are learning from... instead, they are probably wondering why he is still getting reps.

Like anyone with common sense, I want the guy that can get us back to Atlanta, and hopefully beyond. If the staff says that guy is Coker, then so be it. But if not, play Morris/Barnett/Cornwell. If the staff feels we will lose a couple of games regardless of who the QB is, then I would like to see Cornwell or Barnett take it, and not Coker simply because he is a senior.

I'm kind of excited about hearing how Morris is doing well. I could see an "under the radar" guy come in and perform extremely well because he doesn't have the hype to live up to or the fan base breathing down his neck (at least until he throws a couple of INT's). He seems smart enough, and certainly knows the team and the playbook and a decent enough arm to deliver a good ball. If he can be a consistent game manager, then I am completely fine with him taking over and throwing 12-15 times a game.

Yeah from what I've seen, Coker's decision making is like he is playing D2 or something. It's just not Sec speed. The scrimmage was freaking awful, I wish I could show you guys a video.

The teams I feel will maybe take away a consistent run is LSU and Ole Miss. Maybe Arkansas. The rest of them I think we can manage pounding the rock. Just like it's been said to nausea we may have to have that passing game to win.

I will tell you this, we have the ability to run both a smash mouth and a spread like offense with our personnel. Guess we will see what Lane dials up for our situations.

Let me guess. Dink and Donk Passes... and once in a while long passes....

Pink, you know darn well the fan base is going to be all over the QB, regardless of who it is. It will take about 2 pass attempts for everyone to pick Morris apart - Good or bad.

Boz noted the wheels falling off for Morris after a decent start. I think he is the worse case scenario QB. Not as physically gifted as the others, and 2 yrs older than Barnett and Corwell. If he wins the job, there will only be more controversy moving forward. No question in my mind that the staff never saw him as starting QB... Otherwise they wouldn't have brought in Coker and/or moved him to punt last Spring. In fact, I think they were hoping he would transfer... But I guess he saw how bad Coker was and stuck it out.

Morris is consistentish. He knows the offense really well. He is just an average qb. That is the issue, he isn't going to wow you with arm and foot. Hard to say who is the best choice so difficult at this point. They are all sucking in some category.

I'm surprised no one mentions UGA here. They are in year 2 under Pruitt, who did a phenomenal job last year considering a ton of personnel issues affected their D. On paper, they have arguably the best front 7 in the SEC behind Bama and Ole Miss. I think they'll play Bama very tough.

Also, I'm not sure how much talent they have, but Chavis always has a good Bama gameplan. aTm could be another tough row to hoe for the offense.

I agree that Arky will be improved on both sides of the ball. They may catch Bama flying high after big wins over wisky, ole miss, and uga. I hope all remember how close Arky came last year to winning and they dont sleep on the Hogs.

Also concur that LSU will be another tough D game. Steele's familiarity, LSUs talent, and a must win game for les make it a high pressure situation for Bama's O to show up.

Totally forgot about UGA, however what is odd is how they let an extremely weak Florida run all over them for the tune of like 450 rushing yards. They did lose quite a bit of secondary although it we can't pass it won't matter. We have tough games early bottom line.

Boz, what are the pluses and minuses on Cornwell? He was the most promising candidate to me coming out of the spring.

Cornwell didn't do that bad, he throws more than a few passes in the dirt which is irritating. He didn't get any looks really with the ones so it's hard for me to say he is good or bad. It was really and quite honestly between him and Morris for second place. Coker one to my recollection only one good pass near the end. I wish the scrimmage wasn't so controlled in playbook and passing because it made it seem so scripted if you will. Hopefully that is a huge hopefully some of these guys will start trending away for seperation. More to follow as this week goes.

In a conversation here about a month or so ago I made a comparison to Freddie Kitchens in size, GMac above the shoulders.

Morris is consistentish. He knows the offense really well

As does the defense which really skews seeing just what's going on with the QB competition. In my opinion, that's what makes guys (like Amari) so special. Even with the secondary knowing the play/route called he was still able to get open.

That said, you don't have to be a D1 level coach to see a bad decision, late throw, etc.

I have a text out. Waiting.
