🏈 All four QB's got reps last night...

Don't get me wrong. I don't want an air raid attack. A nice, balanced attack that's sensible to what's working in a game. If they can't stop our passing game, keep chucking the ball with some run mixed in. It's okay to set up the run with the pass, when needed. Many have identified ITT that there's at least 4 teams this year with good or better Ds that will commit to taking away our run game. We've seen with Kiffin that once you earn his trust as a QB, he'll give you good opportunities in a game. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they do end up going with Alec Morris. He seems to be the better game manager at this point in camp. I've been a huge Cornwell supporter, but I actually hope Morris wins the job, now that I think about it. He still has 2 years left, and would be another great example of a kid just waiting for his turn to shine. He's been the penultimate team player. Maybe he proves himself enough to win the job.

Morris is not the answer... Short or long term. Saban sending him to work with the punters told me everything I need to know.

Would much rather see the freshman learn on the job. What a mess

Hold on a second. JK didn't get to campus until that summer. There was no punter on the team going into that A-day game.

Saban didn't "send him to work with the punters." He asked if there were any that had punted before and Alec did in high school, said he would, and assumed that role in the spring. Alec also played the QB position in the spring game. Even then, he averaged a tad under 40 yards per attempt and had two kicks that were 45+ as I recall.

I'll readily admit I've been saying all summer "Don't sleep on Morris." So, you have to weigh my thoughts into what I've just said ...

Hey, consider this for a second. Blake was sent to work with other position groups. What would a person look like if they said, "Saban sent Blake to work with the running backs and that told me everything I need to know?"

Working with almost no context, even more limited to NO first hand accounts, and grounded within our own biases, we condemn the lot from some canned scrimmages and position experiments.

Such is life as an Alabama football player. Winning on the field is hard. Winning the battle of public perception in the social media age is near impossible.

Personally, I like the Barnett storyline and his longevity. If CNS isn't BS'ing about the strength of the D and supporting cast, I think his talent, scrambling, ability to keep plays alive and controlled play calling to keep him from being asked to do too much too early would be fun to watch for next 3 years.

His career would be over by week 4 if Saban sent him out there now.

Speculative.

Would he struggle, yes. Would it end his career, no.

Does he give us the best chance... who the fuck knows at this point given all the aforemetioned speculation and chatter.

Was I serious in wanting a true fresh to take the reigns, half-hearted at best.

When the wishbone is unveiled with Drake taking snaps, this will all be moot.

I saw it first hand and the Def is good really good.

I can understand Coker going with the 1's because he needs the work. I will assume the reason Barnett was selected to go against the 1's is Nick and Lane wanted to see what he could do against the best we have and the results will determine whether he falls into Redshirt mode or maybe the #3 slot as far as getting work going forward.

Morris and Batemen just playing out their time at Bama but working hard due to injury to one or two QB's would change their spots.

Cornwell assigned the odd man out for Saturday due to giving Barrnetth is chance to prove he is worth getting that 3rd slot in 2015. Some other QB will get that 5th spot this Saturday and #4 will be right with him. I don't buy into Cornwell in the dog house.

Hebstreit was at the scrimmage but I doubt he will send any comments positive nor negative at this time. If he does have negative comments then get worried.

Again, we'll know how the QB depth chart will shake out this week leading to 2nd scrimmage.... I expect Top 2 or 3 to battle it out... I think we're reading too much into this qb battle than we need to... Grant the QBs arent consistent and it's frustrating all of us, but you know what? Defense is real real real good... and if theyre struggling against the Defense, then it could be taken a good sign... And top of that, QBs couldn't check down on RBs on lot of plays, so really I think coaches set it up to where how QBs would handle the pressure of D each time and how they responded... I expect Barnett, Coker and Morris to get lot better in Scrimmage 2... I'm curious to why Cornwell is at bottom .... did he get in trouble with CNS?

Herb may also see that the true fresh Barnett is on level ground with whats already in place....The "interesting" thing may be ...will Saban play a true freshman over the other QBs who have been here?

Let's assume that Barnett ends up becoming/being the best choice at qb (it could be any of the other candidates for that matter). Will Saban, out of a sense of loyalty, allow Coker to start the season off?

I hope not. There's absolutely no reason to be loyal to Coker, he's been with the team less than any QB except Barnett. Everything I've seen from Coker says that his reps are wasted reps. If the defense is that good, then a guy like Morris making few mistakes could be what we need. I would like to know why Cornwell was so low. If he marched down the field with the 3s against 1s and 2ns, he needs a harder look.

Highly unlikely, IMO

Saban knows what kind of pressure he would put on his true freshman if he started him in Dallas. Much easier to start Coker, give him a shot, then if things don't go well he can justifiably let the freshman take over.

Reading the comments on BOl regarding how they expect Coker's release to improve is comical at best. The guy has been playing QB since HS and a 5th year SR!!!!!! It is what it is.

Nick and staff will have someone(s) ready to play come game #1. We should know at the end of the day this coming Saturday who those 2 will be but maybe not the exact order.

You got that right, people just don't get it. He is a 5th year senior, he is what he is. I'll get a decent idea just before the scrimmage of who is trending but the scrimmage will change everything. Should be interesting.

You gotta have hope, especially if you're a young quarterback. Heck, that freshman gets the job, it might be enough to make a fella move on along.

My guess is Coker gets the nod and Saban gets lots of quality work from the other guys in case the main man goes down. The only one that knows, though, is Saban. And, of course, maybe Miss Terry if there's been some pillow talk.

I don't know which is slower, Christmas or September 5th.
