So I was a little bored and started to see if I could put together the All-Dubose, All-fRan, and All-Shula teams. So here's how I did it:

1. Who recruited the player didn't matter. This was strictly based on who played on the field for each coach.

2. Each team is based on how good the players were during the coaches tenure and not how good they eventually were. (For example: I have Watts on the All-fRan team at QB even though I believe that both Zow and Brodie were better QB's. Watts however was the better QB for fRan's system. I hope that makes sense.)

3. The teams were put together without reference to exactly what position someone played. (For example: I have both Wesley Britt & Andre Smith on the All-Shula team even though they were both LT's. My reasoning is that if both guys are on a team together it wouldn't make sense to bench one of them in favor of Chris Capps  )

So that's pretty much it, don't kill me too bad. I'm just trying to think of something that would give us something to debate during the summer. So without further ado...

*There are a few spots that I'm not totally comfortable with:

Michael Myers - All-Dubose (I seem to remember him getting hurt in '97 and then graduating which according to my rules would disqualify him)

Joel Holliday - All-Dubose (I couldn't remember him or any other OT during this era; I'm probably way off on him and that spot)

Travis Carroll - All-Dubose (I hated putting him on there for obvious reasons but I think it is the right call)

Bolden, Ray, Bacon - All-fRan (Someone please tell me I'm an idiot and missed some people. If I'm not mistaken these guys were responsible for the Josh Reed game)

Anyway, don't murder me, I just wanted to have a little fun. So go ahead and start picking it apart...

After looking I feel as though I messed up the WR spot on the All-fRan team.

Carter 2001 32 428yds 1TD
Milons 2001 36 626yds 3TDs
Luke 2002 41 482yds 2TDs
Collins 2002 35 553yds 3TDs
Fulgham 2002 30 505yds 3TDs

I'm not sure who I should have gone with but I should probably have left Carter off.

One glaring omission...

I liked KD, but I would not take two of him over Shaud Williams. Shaud came in under Fran, but played in 2003 under Shula...2nd team all SEC - Doak Walker semifinalist, etc... He is still on an NFL team and is easily the 2nd best RB we have had in the last 10-15 years. If he we had Shaud in 2005, we win the SEC...he ran for 1300+ yards in 2003 with Brodie banged up half the time. Everyone knew he was getting the ball. He ran it 40 times against UT and 30 against UK...the guy was the definition of durable.

Anyway...Shaud is a must have on any Bama all-star list.

I could not dismiss KD, if for no other reason than his him coming so close to breaking the all-time record. To me, Selecting Shaud is like selecting Gene Jelks over Bobby Humphry...He's good, but there can only be one.

Observation: fRAN didn't look too strong with the skills positions.

Shaud 280att 1367yds 14TD 24rec 161yds 1TD
Darby 219att 1062yds 8TD 15rec 74yds 1TD
Darby 239att 1242yds 3TD 29rec 132yds 0TD
Darby 210att 835yds 0TD 23rec 130yds 1TD

I think you have to take into account that Shaud had the much better line in 2003 (Smiley, Britt, Mathis). So considering that I think that Darby's 2005 season was more impressive than Shaud's 2003 season.
