I watched this last night. It was a good take, and I hope he's right. I agree 100% that Bama was at the mercy of JM. And I think he's right that no one is going to repeat Saban's success because it's not the same sport. So I think as long as Bama is competitive and in the hunt for the playoffs on a regular basis, and they beat Auburn, LSU and Tennessee on a regular basis, then I will be happy with that.

Yes to beating big 3. If he gains a 2 year loosing streak to Vandy, TN, and OU - heads will roll.

10-2 is the best Bama and Most all teams can do. That should get you into the playoffs. I would expect some 8-4 years as well.

Hopefully, we do not have a repeat of getting beat by 2 teams that we should have beaten. Vandy (good year) and Oklahoma killed us.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Pate and listen to him occasionally. But the degree of insight in his commentary is generally not commensurate with the degree of confidence with which he comments. It’s like I feel cheated after listening to him. Anyway, I like the last point he makes in this clip. I started suspecting the same thing, particularly during the OU game. I have no inside info, but it just appeared obvious to me that DeBoer deliberately wasn’t doing everything he could do to win. And that he was “okay” with it because internal dynamics demanded it. I think some of the more informed admins here have hinted at this too. But Pate puts it in good terms, “DeBoer gave some in the front end to get more in the back end.”

JMO year #2 is more like year #1 might have been if not for all the noise about our QB situation. Kalen did get his office remodeled so that's out the way. All the distractions should have been handled now so it's all football going forward.

Look forward to spring drills and following who are the movers and shakers wither up or down. In my simple mind Bama needs 7 OL that can play at a high level. I just can't see Formby being a successful tackle. He's not quick enough nor athletic enough. TE looks to be a position of concern.

Need a good punter and PK.

Hopefully one of these 3 QB's can improve and be successful. When my best friend and I left A-day in 2017 my simple take was Tua could be the starter in September. His ball placement was unbelievable as well as his accuracy. It's possible them incoming freshmen could be the guy but odds are against that.
