I knew he had been dealing with an injury in the past year. I am unsure about how to obtain a PGA Tour card, so you mind enlightening me? I knew he was pretty dang good in college, if not dominant, left a year early, and figured his promise would show sooner rather than later.

There are a few ways to get your card. In this case, Q-school to Web.com tour and three wins gets the card.
A sponsors exemption status in a tournament with a win can do the same thing. IE: Local pro wins US Open and gets tour card.
