Should be a good show, so hopefully we can flip some guys and add a couple of commits. says a lot to me that we host an Ohio State commit at the Iron Bowl the same day his team is playing "The Game" for their playoff lives.

Chris Allen, four-star LB from Southern Lab HS in Baton Rouge, has just committed to Alabama.

"I've been thinking about this lot and I feel that Alabama is the best place that can develop me as a person and a player."- Allen told me moments ago.

Let me take you all for a walk this morning. This is not an Insider Report! The Insider Report is coming though. Be patient. This is just an updated look at the numbers at each position, and the players still targeted. I am going to dive more into the Iron Bowl weekend, visitors, future outlook later on. So no need to ask how the weekend went with this or that player. It's coming.....

The overall numbers

QB (2)- Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones
More? Nope.

RB (2)- Najee Harris, Brian Robinson
More? Well, maybe. Harris has an official visit to Michigan in December. Will he flip? Most likely not. Cam Akers is still recruited by Alabama. He's really the only one UA will consider. So no on Anthony McFarland.

WR (3)- Jerry Jeudy, Tyrell Shavers, Chadarius Townsend
More? Of course. Bama wants two more receivers in this class. DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs and Nico Collins are Alabama's top three WR targets. Will press for others like Tarik Black, James Robinson if miss on the top three. Townsend is recruited more as an athlete. They'll figure out his position in time.

TE (2)- Major Tennison, Kedrick James
More? Nope

OL (5)- Alex Leatherwood, Jedrick Wills, Elliot Baker, Kendall Randolph, Hunter Brannon

More? Possibly. Alabama has been high on Trey Smith and Isaiah Wilson for a long time. Wilson was in Tuscaloosa for an official visit this past weekend. Smith will announce his decision in December. We'll see what happens. Alabama will not press for another lineman if they miss on Smith and Wilson.

DT (0)- Ummm?
More? All are wondering where the DL are in this class. Aubrey Solomon is at the top of Alabama's wish list. He was in Tuscaloosa for an official visit this past weekend. Isaiah Buggs will visit in December. Javon Kinlaw is a very real possibility. I think Phildarian Mathis ends up at LSU, but we'll see. Elijah Conliffe is still in play.

DE (1)- Akial Byers
More? LaBryan Ray and Malik Herring are heavily recruited by Alabama. Both were on campus this weekend. Ryan Johnson has been to Tuscaloosa several times this fall. Alabama will need to miss on Ray and Herring for Johnson to have a spot. These are really the only guys right now.

LB (4)- Dylan Moses, VanDarius Cowan, Chris Allen, Markail Benton

More? Baron Browning announces his commitment on Tuesday. Alabama was considered the favorite prior to his visit to Ohio State. Still looks good for Bama. This will put a bow on the LB class. I don't expect Jarez Parks in this class at this time.

DB (2): Kyriq McDonald, Jhavonte Dean

More? For certain! It seems Alabama wants to sign 2-3 more defensive backs. DeAngelo Gibbs and Daniel Wright (FSU commitment) are very highly regarded by UA. JaCoby Stevens likely won't flip from LSU. Alabama is recruiting Xavier McKinney and Devon Hunter. Shaun Wade was on campus this past weekend for an official visit. FSU commitment Stanford Samuels is also heavily recruited by Alabama. Just a wait and see deal right now. I don't think Dean sticks with his commitment to Alabama.

ST (2)- K Brandon Ruiz, LS Thomas Fletcher
More? Negative

So what in the world is Alabama going to do with these numbers?

You know a lot people look at grayshirting as who are the lowest ranked players in the class. Not so much this year. Alabama wants every player currently committed. The staff will not ask the guys ranked three-stars if they will grayshirt because of the lower ranking.

I believe the staff is currently struggling to decide what to do because of how many good players are wanting to join the class/have joined the class. They may try to feel out who wouldn't mind taking a grayshirt. I think they will begin asking sooner rather than later.

I always say don't worry about the numbers. No need to worry about them. The coaching staff will work it out and always do. Difficult? Absolutely. Happy with the end result? For certain.

Sweet! Same H.S. as Tim Williams, right? Same position too... This kid is much more built at that age though.

Thanks very much for posting all of these updates. I really enjoy getting the newest information. hoping for Baron tomorrow.

Baron Browning Per Rivals:

Baron Browning's high school coach told the Ohio State Rivals site he is not announcing a decision on Tuesday.

Alabama felt good about Browning this afternoon. Possibly wants to meet with Herman.

He is an EE. Tomorrow is his Dad's birthday and the announcement was timed to that day. He is saying he is now waiting until the Under Armour game on Jan 1 which he was not going to go to. But yes the change at Texas has made him blink and he still has some line in at OSU. So our classes start 1/13 and OSU classes start 1/9 FYI.

Change of plans for Browning?

Browning was initially expected to announce on Tuesday.
Rivals.com
All eyes have been on five-star Kennedale (Texas) linebacker Baron Browning in recent days as the nation's top prospect at his position was expected to announce his college decision on Tuesday, November 29th.

After making his official visit over the weekend to Ohio State, those plans have changed according to Kennedale head football coach Richard Barrett.

"No, he is not (announcing Tuesday)," Barrett informed BuckeyeGrove.com via text message.

Alabama has made a big push for the athletic linebacker in recent weeks and former contender Texas made a big splash hire over the weekend, poaching Tom Herman from Houston to become the Longhorns' next head coach.
BuckeyeGrove.com - Change of plans for Browning?

Texas simply isn't attractive to me as they will still be years away from being a competitor. Harbaugh had success at Stanford and San Francisco, Carrol had success at USC and Seattle (save for probation), and Saban clearly showed progressions at LSU and is head of the best dynasty anyone has seen. Herman simply hasn't proven to me he can compete week in and week out with the type of talent he will see each week. Sure, pump up for a bowl game or one prime time matchup, but I can't see success any earlier than they expected from Strong. Sure, he will get his guys in there, but Texas is a mess with their boosters and behind the scenes puppet masters. My point is that Browning would waste his talents like Malik Jefferson and will essentially go unnoticed at Texas. Just my two cents, and I clearly support any decision he feels is bets for him and his family, but I see Alabama as the mecca for linebackers and athletes that wanna be coached by the best.
