It's an important week along Alabama's Gulf Coast for four former University of Alabama football players with dreams of playing in the National Football League.
Quarterback Blake Sims, offensive linemen Arie Kouandjio and Austin Shepherd and fullback Jalston Fowler are representing the Crimson Tide on the South squad roster in this week's Senior Bowl in Mobile.
The annual scouting event is a chance for NFL teams to watch up close, interview and scout the best senior football players in the country. Juniors who have obtained their undergraduate from their respective university are also eligible to be invited to the game.
The Tennessee Titans coaching staff will direct the North squad with the Jacksonville Jaguars staff leading the South squad, which includes all four Alabama players.
A total of five Auburn players accepted invites, including running back Cameron Artis-Payne, wide receiver Sammie Coates, center Reese Dismukes, tight C.J. Uzomah and defensive tackle Gabe Wright.
In all, 27 players from the Southeastern Conference accepted invites.
Practice begins today after the morning weigh-in with the North team practice beginning at 12:15 at Ladds-Peeble Stadium and the South practicing from 2:30-4:30 at Fairhope Stadium in Fairhope.
