My biggest concern is depth. I think we have some really good starters returning and we have good experience, especially on defense. But losing that many young players means that youā€™re relying on true freshmen with zero experience to provide depth. Thatā€™s troubling

For some of the ones that left, I completely agree. That is why replacing them with the right pieces is important.

Did I say how much I hate the portal and NIL? Completelt ruined college football.

I hate it as well. I said the other day on here, and I mean it, if this all leads to the destruction of college sports (which I don't believe will happen by any stretch), I'd be ok with it. I'm a big fan of, decisions have consequences...

Just a quick note after that last addition at RB. Of all the Bama players that entered the portal, only 8 had 120 or more non-special teams snaps this past season for The Tide. And of those 8, 4 were WR's. Alabama, thus far, has added a total of 8 guys via the portal. 6 of those 8 players had 120 or more non-special teams snaps this past season for their former teams. And that doesn't count Kelby Collins, who would have easily qualified based on his 2023 numbers, but didn't play as much this season after a position change.

I know this has already been talked about but I am still going to need help with how pulling pieces from Utah State, Ball Statue and Louisan Tech is adding elite talent. This on the surface does not appear to be adding elite talent. Hard for me to wrap my head around after 17 years of CNS recruiting elite talent, that should not be the goal. It takes elite talent to live up to the Bama standard in my opinion. I know there has been talk about fit and about adding depth with players that will not be as much of a flight risk but will they live up to the Bama standard? I want to say that I know nothing about these kids so stating that about these programs and kids is a generalization for sure.

Talent at Bama has not been something I have concerned myself with the last 17 years because there was no need to. With that said I will end my post the way I end many of them, we will have to wait and see and I absolutely hope my concerns have zero merit. Many of you already believe that anyway :).

Just a quick note after that last addition at RB.
Let me add another couple of notes about this addition. First, I donā€™t know anything about him. I donā€™t know if he will make any significant contributions on game days. But ā€¦ I love his measurables: an Emmitt Smith-like bowling ball who can be difficult for a defense to track behind our OL. Obviously I prefer a back at around 6ā€™ to help out more with pass blocking duties, but frankly that seems like a lost art among all RBs these days. So Iā€™ll gladly take an Emmitt Smith build. šŸ˜ƒ

Mando, nobody is going to satisfy your concern, and I wonā€™t even try because I can tell you are set in your worrying and nothing will abate that for you. Worrying is unhealthy, especially when itā€™s over entertainment. But something to consider here, and nothing more. Jahmyr Gibbs had 740 yards rushing for Georgia Tech in 2021 before bolting for the Capstone (303 yards before that 2021 season). A 3-9 Georgia Tech mind youā€¦ In his career at GT he averaged 5.2 YPC (same average each season) and had 8 rushing TDs (5 receiving also). This Washington kid played for a better team, shared the load just like Gibbs at GT, had more yards, YPC (6.0) and had 9 rushing TDs and 2 receiving. Iā€™m not saying this kid is another Gibbs, but how did you feel when CNS brought Gibbs in? Same initial reaction? Louisiana was a much better program this year than GT was in 2022 when CNS grabbed Gibbs. Again, just a data point for measure.

Thatā€™s what I see as a huge problem. Losing 24 experienced backups / couple potential starters and replacing them with true freshman. That canā€™t be good.

Look at most other top tier programs in the portal and they have brought in almost as much as theyā€™ve lost. From what I see what we are bringing in like 30% of what weā€™ve lost.

Just for fun, how many more players do you want Bama to bring in?

Hard to tell much from his highlight reel. For the most part, the guy had holes big enough that I could run through - and that's saying a lot. It also looked like several plays were against the same inept teams.
He has much better cutting ability than 22 and I THINK his speed is better. I'm not saying he is Barry Sanders. We need a RB that has some shake and bake instead of just plodders.
