🏈 Alabama reportedly adds San Jose State to 2010 schedule

Hey now, we can't load up all on Penn State's and VT's and Michigan State's. I think Coach Saban is doing a brilliant job at generating some interest in 'Bama's team.

I don't know of any other team to open the season 2 years in a row with a top 5 ranked team.

I am proud of Alabama's revamped schedule. San Jose State is a scrappy little team, btw. I would like for 'Bama to play GT also; that would be a wonderful game at the Ga. Dome.

In fact, wouldn't that be a great team to start the year off with in '10.

It would be a foolish move for Ga. Tech not to play us at Bobby-Dodd.

Then are you saying that GT should never play in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic? I thought they agreed to play UCLA there in 2010, but UCLA wanted no part of UGA nor GT. And certainly NOT Bama!

No, I saw the reference to playing us in the Georgia Dome.

If Ga. Tech is offered a shot at playing in the Kick-Off-Classic I'd hope they would jump at it with both feet.

To be honest, I thought last years game would have had more exposure on TV than it did.

That game vs Clemson didn't make it in the top 10 in viewing households last year despite being the game in that time slot. In fact, I don't know if it made it in ABC's top ten for college football games. I know it didn't make it in their top 8.

This is exactly the ideal 4 game OOC schedule. As I have said before, if Bama is going to schedule a 1AA team each year, and it looks as if they will do so, then the other 3 games should be against a Top 40, a Middle 40, and a Bottom 40 team. These 3 1A teams; PSU, Duke, and SJS, fit the bill. And since they have not as yet scheduled the 1AA team, it appears they are taking the high road and waiting to see if the Atlanta Sports Council wants Bama to bail them out of the UCLA/barn/UGA/GT mess.

No doubt that is why the ASC was trying to match up UCLA with an ACC or SEC team. A national interest game rather than a regional one.

Alabama Announces Football Game With San Jose State

The University of Alabama and San Jose State University football teams will meet for the first time on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will serve as the 2010 season opener for both programs. This will be the first contest played following a two-year renovation project to the south endzone of Bryant-Denny Stadium, which is expected to push the capacity over 100,000.

I think it's a great move and a schrewd one at that! You think Saban and the University are only scheduling Clemson and VA tech to improve their schedule? I think it's a good move from a recruiting stand point. West coast exposure.
