Observations

  • Practice was moved up one hour, probably to allow players more time to go home for the weekend.
  • Kevin Norwood (foot/ankle) took it easy while his fellow wide receivers ran routes. It isn't clear if it's a foot or leg issue this time. He caught six passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns in Alabama’s first two games (Michigan and Western Kentucky). In three games since then (Arkansas, Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss), he has caught only three passes for 34 yards.
  • That meant Amari Cooper, Kenny Bell, Christion Jones, Cyrus Jones, Marvin Shinn and Danny Woodson Jr. were the scholarship receivers running routes. With DeAndrew White out with a season-ending knee injury, keep your eye on Cyrus Jones.
  • Brent Calloway still was working with the tight ends/H-backs. That’s three practices now since season-ending knee injuries to Jalston Fowler and Dee Hart. A position switch doesn’t look imminent.
  • Cornerback Deion Belue (shoulder) still is wearing a black non-contact jersey and is pedaling a stationary bicycle.
  • Blake Sims still is working with the quarterbacks.
  • Safety Landon Collins' right leg was wrapped.
  • Eddie Williams still is working as a safety.
  • For the third time in as many days, members of the news media were allowed to observe only one period. No telling what has been happening on the field this week that we haven’t seen.
