🏈 Alabama position breakdown: The quarterbacks

The Crimson Tide is low on depth, but there's no debate who will be starting this year.

With less than two weeks remaining before Alabama resumes its on-field preparations for the 2012 season, there's no better time than now to re-examine who's all going to be where.

So, over the next eight days, we're going to go from position group to position group and see where each area stands. And we'll be doing it with about 500 words.

What better place to start than behind center? It's quarterback day, everybody.


The numbers
- After beating out Phillip Sims for the starting job, AJ McCarron completed 219 of his 328 pass attempts for 2,634 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions last season. His 66.8 completion percentage was the best in the SEC, he had the fewest interceptions of any regular starter and his yardage and touchdown totals each ranked third in the conference. Seeing action in eight games, Sims was 18-for-28 for 163 yards and two interceptions.
