Jimbo is going to have A&M playing dayum good football in 2019. I am not sure how many seniors this season but they're a much different type team than what Sumlin produced.
I can't go that far. I heard the same thing when Sumlin took over for Sherman. Sherman represented a new mindset in College Station after he received the nod after Franchione.

I caught a line yesterday which read "A&M gave Clemson and Alabama all they could handle." To which I'm thinking, "Wait a freakin' minute!" A&M put some points on the board largely due to broken plays and lost containment--you've pointed that out. But, "gave Bama all they could handle?"

Quite frankly, does anyone feel Clemson of '18 is on par with Clemson of '17 or '16? A definite no on '16 and I'm not sure they're any better today than they were when Bama faced them a few months ago.

It's literally left me asking, "What have we learned about A&M?"

Just my 2 cents on Clemson these days. No, they aren't any better offensively than last season when Kelly Bryant is at the controls. I saw Saturday a concerted attempt by Dabo to try and get Lawrence ready to go. Easier said than done but Dabo knows they aren't any better as well. Looking at Bama and Ohio State I think he feels the need to try and join the arms race sooner rather than later.

I'm in the same camp. Clemson appears to be similar to last year...still missing Watson.

TAMU does get Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State at home next year, but gas to travel to Georgia, LSU, and Clemson.

I'm not a Jimbo fan.

Ten Bears had A&M at 8-4 this year and a Bowl win( 9 wins ( Jimbo will take any bowl game very serious for 2019 season just as did Nick in 2007).

I was impressed with TAMU. 3 things stood out:

1. Their QB has some game. I was impressed with the arm strength as well as his speed.... He was running past some of our DB's easily. A top 5 QB in the SEC (for whatever that's worth)

2. Their run defense was impressive. Thought we could've done some different things but they lived in the backfield on our shotgun runs

3. Their S/T's - Their punter has a freaking cannon. FG kicker made his kicks including a 52 yarder

Could see them running the rest of the table in SEC play...

That was impressive. The other two points...we're looking at them from two different perspectives.

There wasn't anything about Mond that stood out. He's the same type of QB we saw last year but more mature. We knew that coming in. If you mention speed, you have to take that in context. The defensive backfield had their coverage which in turn takes them out of the middle. It created some bad angles, some of those could have been better, but I didn't come across to me as a speed thing.

I don't like seeing containment lost on a quarterback but I also have to remember coverage is one of the things that contributes to those mistakes. On top of that, it's not real difficult to get defensive backs outside the hash marks for a delayed draw.

No one has an issue with it....Until Mond gets sacked and breaks his ankle.....or until Buggs tears an ACL. Know what i mean? If someone on either team got badly hurt on that play we would all think differently. I still have not forgiven Shula for Prothro's leg. My immediate responce was......why was Pro still in the game. I get the idea of Jimbo changing the culture and playing till the end....never give up mentality. But it can backfire quickly.

In regards to his rushing stats... If Q Williams just makes that 1 damn tackle it's chopped in half! He had 2 hands on em', just slipped through. But when he got up to speed though he was haulin' balls!

Mond played very well vs Bama last year. If the guy gets hot then he is a challenge and he doesn't go down easy.

The improvements in his game were easily seen coming into last weekend. He's proven to be pretty accurate on the 20+ yard throws (air time.)

Jimbo is going to improve the guy or he is going to kill him one.....Jimbo is a little like Nick that when he gets fired up he is going to get in their face and he doesn't give a dayum who knows it....looking over his granny glasses his expression of total discuss is priceless.

Jimbo is going to improve the guy or he is going to kill him one
And when that one gets killed what happens then? Does Jimbo revert back to the Jimbo of '17 where he and his team quit? That fits the A&M culture.

We've mentioned the two running plays--54 and 34 yards. By my recollection he had three or four passing plays that were more than 20 yards. If we look at that game under Saban's defined "explosive plays," Mond had six, maybe seven? Those plays kept them in the game on the scoreboard--appearances aren't everything--but the outcome never looked in doubt.

I simply don't think their defense is as good as everyone was expecting. I mean, they really have not dominated in any game this season against an opponent of note. Their line was supposed to be the best ever with three returning sure fire first rounders, and an underclassman in Lawrence that is "unblockable". I think they have underachieved on the defensive side of the ball this season so far.

No way they are on par with any of the last three teams. Watson was darn good, but I also think they are trying to make him out to be the player of the century in the media. He made a lot of plays, but Gallman, Legget, Scott, and Renfrow all made amazing plays against our best defenses, it wasn't all Watson like a lot make you want to believe. Anyways, this Clemson team is not scaring anyone. Etienne and Higgins are really good and you better watch them, but as a whole they aren't worrying me like maybe last year.

As far as giving us all we could handle, it was 31-13 at Halftime. They still lost by 22 points and were never even closer in the second half. We put our second string quarterback in and Tua didn't play the fourth quarter. I admit there was some frustration as far as containing Mond, but other than that we shut them down pretty good and took our foot off the pedal like we always do in the second half.

I still think Jimbo isn't as good as some make him out to be. Take away a dynamic QB in Jameis Winston and what has he done as a HC? He is going to ride Mond like a government mule and when he either leaves or gets him killed, A&M will fold.

It's a 60 minute game... isn't that what Saban always says? I have no issues with the way aTm played their last drive. It was a good opportunity for Jimbo to teach those kids to play all 60 minutes and get some 2 minute drills in at the same time. As for us, it was a great teaching device to show you play to a standard, not to a score board.

Nick Saban only deals in facts with no bullshit and his take was we won the game but they didn't control the game and he is spot on. We never made their azz quit and they keep coming back across mid-field into Bama territory time and time again. You have three options

a-A&M is a little better than you give them credit
b-Bama isn't as good as they're getting credit
c-ham sandwich

Jimbo's record at FSU

10-4...2010
9-4
12-2
14-0
13-1
10-3
10-3
7-6....2017.........lost his QB game 1

He pretty good

12-2, 14-0, and 13-1 occurred with Winston. Outside of that, he is a 3-4 loss a year coach. Nothing outstanding.
