šŸˆ Alabama, Nike, and the apparel contract renewal coming up soon.

Don't expect it to be the biggest. Schools like Stanford have many more teams to outfit and Nike pays to do it.

We'll likely never know considering they're private and don't have to release the details. Stanford hasn't had the best relationship with Nike citing how the clothing was made as one example. I know they have Speedo as one of their corporate sponsors and another I can't recall. They've also took a stance about having corporate partners logos in their facilities.
What's the latest on the Nike contract?
I've heard it's done and it's a big one. Just waiting on the official announcement.

Any talk of doing something with the uniforms for a game or anything? Or just an apparel deal pretty much.
I haven't heard anything about that. It's a subject I've paid attention to in passing, so to speak.

UnderArmor may be interested if, as rumored, Auburn switches to Dickies.

LOL, wonder how much money Auburn has lost in UnderArmor stock...that was part of the deal as well.
As of November of last year their stock value had dropped by over 75%. There was an article that covered this...as I recall, the 10 million in stock was valued (estimated) at 2.3 million.

Auburn's $10 million Under Armour stock deal keeps losing value

Although Auburn is an UA school I wouldn’t mind Bama taking a serious look at UA. UA does a great job promoting their schools compared to what Nike has done. I've seen a ton of Auburn commercials even up here in Wyoming only school I’ve seen in Nike commercials is Texas and that was leading up to the NC against Bama.

Auburn is an Ag school, from that lens it makes sense.

I’d like to see Bama and Nike do some cool uniforms. I’m not saying go all Oregon or anything close, but just something.

Whether fans like it or not recruits do.

IMO, if a recruit is swayed by fancy uniform combinations versus playing top quality football and competing for championships, they're better off not coming to Alabama. At Oregon they notice the uniform. At Alabama they notice the player.

I don't think it's necessarily picking a school based off uniform options, but more about the swag they receive in the process. Nike pumps out limited edition shoes for Oregon players all the time. I think the year Oregon made the National Championship they created a few pairs of shoes for Mariota and they were going for thousands at the time. These guys gets thousands of dollars worth of clothes and apparal, so if you were like my wife and forced to go through high school with one pair of pants and three shirts because your parents are worthless or you simply can't afford it, of course that's going to play a part in your decision.

Does anyone know if there are limits to what Nike can give Oregon or is it just whatever Phil Knight wants to give his alma mater in the form of clothing and apparel that is team related?

I too think Nike and Bama will stick together. It would be nuts for Nike to let Bama get away and not offer them them top spot of all college contracts over UCLA. However if another company jumped in an offered them something stupid to get the business I think Bama would take it as they are all about that money.

Here is a crazy idea.....Puma just made Jay Z the head of marketing.....Or he just became part owner.....or something(maybe bball division). If Jay and Puma offered Bama like 300 Mill I think Bama would take it. I think the kids like the idea of rappers and brands and it might help with recruiting. Just a crazy thought...but you see some brand like Under armor making big plays......I think Betting on Bama would be a good bet!

Several years ago I read a report on Nike and the "original football schools." Bama was one of six (I believe that was the number) that they classified (advertising purposes) as their "elite." We're talking a partnership that has lasted almost 40 years now. For that reason alone I don't see Bama moving on to another company.

The fact Coach Battle started this process and it was completed under Byrne gives me reason to believe it's going to be the largest to date. It really would be a foolish move for Nike not to make that statement.

What's crazy is the amount of money now-a-day. Look at this from 1981.

Miami was on of the first schools as well and they switched about three years ago--to Adidas.

As to PUMA. That's largely a soccer company. I know they are breaking into football but I can't see them "swooshing" in and taking the Nike contract.
