Why? The pro-combat unis were slick (and sold a shit load of jerseys and gloves mind you). Our fan bases complete and utter anger at the thought of any type of change, no matter if its just for one game or not, to the uniforms is super weird. I love the tradition, too but it's nice to have an alternate every once in a while and the kids love it. But then again when has it ever been about the kids *shrug*

Teams that have given in to the whole softball look, have at times, been unrecognizable to the average fan. Watching Ohio State morph into a kaleidoscope of contrasting colors is horrible. Michigan's road whites with the stripes on the jerseys and pants are ugly with a capital U. Michigan should never do stripes. The charcoal grey and orange of Tennessee was terrible. Every year Arkansas look like they are trying to reinvent football by changing their unis. It ain't working.

I'm conservative in nature, so I will qualify my points here, I never really thought it was cool when Bama would trade off to the white helmets. When we had the white domes and crimson jerseys on I thought we looked more like Nebraska and that's not a compliment. When you mess with a team's uniforms you're picking on their identity and tradition and I never thought that was a good idea. With Alabama being about as traditional as they come and ultra-successful why sell out to the sneaker people?

I keep mentioning it because it was a sweet uniform and they could do something similar with a new uniform, doesn't have to be that exact one. And like someone else said, the current ones aren't even pro combat. I'm pretty sure we went from pro combat to vapor to the current ones. And suggesting that the addition of new jersey wouldnt add much sells is also pretty ridiculous. How in the world do you figure that? I see those black Bama jersey's all over the place now and we never actually used them in a game. Like I get it, you dont want to see any change in the unis at all. Just say that, dont say things like "it wouldnt add much sales" to argument. Because thats just not true.

I think the houndstooth collar was 2006, in honor of Bear Bryant's 25 anniversary of 315. I never got that one unfortunately. I wanted to get a DJ Hall hound sooth collar. The pro combat jersey's (houndstooth in the number) was 2010.

Actually the campaign was first. They used the special uniforms to help promote Pro Combat.

Overall, I too, am a traditionalist on the uniforms. I'm ok if they wanted to do the white helmets to commemorate a special team/occasion from back in the 60's when they wore them.

One thing I wouldn't mind that would be subtle and look good IMO is to the pants. In Birdman's signature he has a pic of TJ Yeldon running into the endzone, on the pants on the red stripe running down the side of the pants, but the script A on the hip above the stripe or I like the idea of putting a script A above one of the thigh pad, just below the waist. I think that would look good and wouldn't detract from the classic look of our uni's.
