Arkansas is in the other Columbia tonight. They hold the tie-breaker for the 4th seed in the tournament.

While this is completely fluid due to the other teams movement, a 4-2 record over the remainder of this season's schedule would put Bama at 70 in the RPI (as of today.) Winning out in the regular season would put them at 60...certainly on the bubble going into the tourney.

RPI probablities

Football team plays in best game of year; only fitting basketball team plays in worst game.

Kill it, kill it with fire!

18pts in a half. That's retarded.

This is the worst basketball I've seen since coaching my daughter's church team.

Anybody that thinks this is a bubble team is retarded. We could only score 18 pts against a team with only 2 conference wins. smh

The win last night puts the Live-RPI at 68. There are teams ranked above Bama in the RPI that won't get into the tourney due to the conference they are in and the one bid bite that hits smaller schools each year.

It'll take a hell of a run for this team to make it to the dance. To label someone that can see the possibility as "retarded?" Come on. It's just two different views.

As example, your citing "only score 18 points against a team" seems logical at face value. OR, one could look at CAJ switching to a man offense to attack their zone defense as a good, in-game adjustment. (I have to give a H/T to Kim Anderson for starting his team out on zone with his defense. It was a good counter-measure to Bama playing big.)

Alabama outlasts Missouri 57-54

Dazon Ingram scored 18 points -- including 15 in the second half -- and grabbed nine rebounds to help Alabama overcome dismal first-half shooting and defeat Missouri 57-54 Wednesday.

Riley Norris, Braxton Key and Jimmie Taylor each added nine points, and the trio combined for 19 second-half points. Bola Olanyian grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds.

Ingram's layup with 5:49 to play capped an 8-1 spurt and pulled the Tide within one with. Jordan Barnett hit 1 of 2 free throws on the other end before Taylor made a jumper and Ingram hit back-to-back 3s to make it 53-47 and Alabama led the rest of the way. K.J. Walton's 3-point play trimmed Missouri's deficit to 55-54 with 1:31 to play, but neither team scored again until Ingram's pair of free throws with two seconds left sealed it.

Alabama (15-10 , 8-5 Southeastern Conference) had its worst offensive half of the season, making just 5 of 27 (18.5 percent) field-goal attempts before the break. After a jumper by Key opened the scoring just 16 seconds in, the Tide missed 18 of their next 19 shots over the next 15 minutes.

K.J. Walton had nine of his 12 points in the first half and Kevin Puryear finished with 11 for Missouri (7-18, 2-11).

I'm a realist. I love Alabama basketball and this team. They play hard. They just lack the talent it takes to make the dance plain and simple. We are a 3-4 seed in the NIT. There is always next year and I can't wait.

Any team that wins via defense and rebounding will look terrible at times, as we did in the first half and even as we have in some of our wins. We won't win many shootouts because the talent to play that style is not here yet, but defense and rebounding will keep you in most games.

I did not see it but I imagine that the barn looked good the other night when they put up 95 on Florida. They neglected the other side though and gave up 115. I would rather be where we are than where they are.

OH LAWD!!!
I know you know, but for the people who thinks Wesley's is a myth.

I've decided not to critique this group too much. We just aren't there with talent, so I just want to see effort and a little strategy. Unfortunately, some nights are going to look like a tractor pull.

Agreed. However, sometimes I think we ought to nominate the team for that "Trick Shot Challenge" and shoot a free throw.

You very well may be right. You can't claim the title "realist." Is there a such world as probabilist? Likelnessology as a study? That's Lunardi's job. Never mind.

I can see it playing out. In a lot of ways. Think about this. If Florida remains as a one seed, look at the bracket. UF losing their big with Bama playing a big lineup?

Look at my post on basketball this season. They have all been pointing to Game 8.

I have harped all year long on seeing improvement from this team. This team has improved in a lot of areas but talent wise, we are not there yet. Next year, IMO, is the year the Tide should make the dance at the very least. This year, we are looking at the NIT, getting a few extra practices in and hopefully, 2-3 more games. CAJ has done a lot with this team in his two years and I am excited for th future of Tide hoops.
