I don't think he was even close to being ready to return. He's a liability right now. I'll say it again, he should not play another second until he demonstrates in practice he's capable of contributing.
We'll see what the second half has to offer. At least we get to cheer for Sexton in a Bama jersey for one season.

As to "highly regarded." By fans, likely. These players were 11, 12, and 13 years old at the time. I'd be hesitant to think there's a lot of regard, much less knowledge, of his time in Knoxville.

Yes, by fans. They continue to sing his praises to this day. But you are probably right that most of the current players are oblivious. I'm sure none of Pearl's UT players are ever around the program at all.

^^^ Of note there. UT and A&M really need wins today. I can't see the Vols getting past UK and LSU is starting to come together. Both teams (UT and Tx A&M) are winless in conference play at 0-2.
LSU sent TAMU to 0-3 and Aubarn beat a good Arkansas team handily (#22) for their 12th win in a row and consecutive wins over top 25 teams.
We can all hate on Bruce but he's getting the first, second and last laugh now. Meanwhile Avery looks like the first person interviewed after a tornado tears through a town.
