| FTBL Alabama lays waste to opponents....

After looking at our SoS ranking I was a little concerned about the reality of this team. But then I realized that not only do we beat down teams physically & mentally throughout the game, we also leave a bit of a hangover much like we experienced last year after the LSU game.

Naturally, I was currious to find anything that showed the numbers to reflect this theory. I found a quote from this article:

Wake of destruction

One statistic drives home the point. Alabama’s 12 opponents were a combined 23-17 (.600) before facing the Tide. After losing, those same teams went 31-39 (.442).

As you can see, there is a spread but is it really that big?

Any thoughts? Pro or con.

I am amazed when people say of Alabama, "well, you haven't played anybody this year" when most of the media were claiming 3 or 4 losses for the Tide before the season began. Some people will just never admit that a)they are wrong or b)Alabama is a good ball team.

Alabama has nothing to apologize for and USC, Oklahoma, Texas or whoever else would have been fortunate to have 12 wins with our schedule. Ask the great and mighty Gators who had a bad day at the office when the Right Reverand Nutt came calling.

That being said, BAMA's opponents have a combined 12 losses directly attributed to playing Alabama and when you play BAMA, you have played a physical ball game and that doesn't bode well if you have a game the following week.

Well said, this makes it plain & clear...

The closer & closer we get to the SEC championship the more & more confident I become at what lies ahead...it has been too long!

alabama had 4 top 10 teams on their preseason schedule.. the talent is still there..

we gave auburn, georgia, and lsu one loss... then they each had to play each other.. it was impossible for us to go undefeated and for our schedule to be strong late in the season..

i also think that clemson would have been a different team if we had not "served" them in the dome..

clemson is not used to handling the spotlight, and THAT beatdown sent them to the cleaners.. but as i said, the talent is there..

lsu and georgia had a late loss, but when you have championship dreams it's easy to give up after that second loss.. alabama beat them both... georgia beat lsu, and florida beat georgia.. after that. they simply quit..

but they are still the same teams that were in the top 10 preseason..

This is the angle that one never hears aired in Bama's defense. There was talent that had to be physically beaten. Sure the mental side did not pan out for these teams, but the same side of that coin is that no team in America has played better mentally than Alabama, as measured by achievement relative to the physical potential.

As for Florida, they have done a fine job both mentally and physically. Yes, they are certainly the best team we will have faced to date, but one can not deny that Bama is the same for them as well. What this means is that both teams will be in new territory. So, considering that we bring more physical dominance (vice trying to use speed to avoid physical match ups)and we have proven ourselves in the mental part of the game, I have to like our chances.
