🏈 Alabama lands another big recruit

After a positive experience on his official visit over the weekend in Tuscaloosa, 4-star defensive lineman Tim Williams from Baton Rouge, Louisiana has committed to Alabama according to reports from various recruiting websites. Williams, who is rated a 4-star prospect by all four major recruiting services and is ranked as the top player in the state of Louisiana by ESPN, told 247Sports earlier on Monday that Alabama became his leader after his official visit over the weekend but that he intended to visit Miami next weekend.
Williams has since canceled that visit, according to reports, and is now the Crimson Tide's 21st verbal commitment for the Class of 2013.
"Coach Saban said he wanted me to go ahead and commit," said Williams in an interview with BamaOnline. "It was the overall program and how they will utilize me on the field. I like the way they develop their players and the academic program."
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender earned an invitation to the Under Armour All-America Game and told Rivals.com that Alabama plans on using him as a linebacker.
"They don't like me just at the Jack linebacker position," Williams told TideSports. "They say I can play all three positions. I can play outside linebacker, the Sam and I can play Will. I can play the Jack because of my speed. I can play all three."

Back to back years recruiting the #1 recruit in the state...oh my.

We have a chance at the #1 recruit next year too, the running back.

edit...hmm, he's the #3 recruit in LA, the data above is wrong.

I think it's absolutely hilarious that they are so surprised....

I was on a few sports sites reading the comments on this story and it was hilarious. All the Auburn folks were like, "Bama can HAVE him" and "He is passing up a chance at greatness" .. :dazed:

FYI: Liner (5-star DL from Muscle Shoals, AL) was arrested twice in a 10-day period this past summer. He was also suspended from the Muscle Shoals team for walking out of a practice. Well, if he decides to go with Bama, Saban is the guy to get him in order!

The guys I work with from the Shoals area say he, Liner, is TROUBLE and although a great talent, will be the worst recruit CNS has ever landed. I believe our staff can handle him or he'll "decide" to transfer to some other program similar to the way Carter did.

I'll just say this without getting into specifics... There are multiple players on the team that had issues as bad or worse than Dee Liner in HS, but there is no coach in CFB that is better at keeping players in line, nobody. Saban hasn't hit .1000, but what he has done with some players since he's been here has been nothing short of amazing... And a lot of the guys who "made it" here under Saban, simply wouldn't have done so at other places.
