The record is perfect, but Alabama is a flawed team
Flawed? As in not perfect? Well, YEAH!! And I am sure Saban subscribed to some of this thought. Maybe the team should, as well.
But for all the critics, the haters, and maybe Goodman is one - GEEZ, whaddaya want??!!
MANY are talking about what a TERRIBLE first half Hurts had - go back and watch the game. He's throwing accurately into tight spaces. I was happy to see it! I didn't even mind the play calling from Lane - and I am usually one of those guys yelling "Run the damn ball!!!" But I thought he had a good game plan. Stewart drops a sure first down on a good pass, so we punt. Now I thought Jalen made a mistake on the first INT - why would Stewart turn INTO two defenders? Stewart was expecting an 'out' so that's probably on Jalen. The 2nd interception? Auburn redirected, two guys go to the same place, one WR stumbles... INT. In BOTH Hurts got the ball out quickly, anticipating - isn't that what everyone, from Saban on down, wanted? Now, the fumbilitis on the toss to Stewart that Harris happened to catch, and the other 'fumble' - sure, sloppy. Did he get nervous, was it something else? I don't know. I AM glad we were able to run well in the second half, but I think Lane set Auburn up for that, and tired them out to boot. I liked the play from Hurts, OVERALL, AND the play CALLING.
Yes, the fumbles could hurt us against a good team - Jalen needs to be more careful, and they all need to carry high and tight, but the way he played, and the game Lane called, showed we CAN WIN WITHOUT relying on the run, and I like not being one-dimensional!
Now let's go beat that gator ass!!! Roll Tide!!!
