Bama News

Escaping Gainesville with a 31-29 win over Florida did nothing to change voters’ opinion of Alabama as the No. 1 team in the AFCA coaches poll.

Sunday’s edition of the poll saw the top five teams remain the same as last week, with Alabama keeping all 64 of its first-place votes. No. 2 Georgia retained its lone first-place vote in the poll of 65 head coaches.

Florida, which was ranked No. 9 entering Saturday’s game in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, fell three spots to No. 12 in the loss.

Moving up three spots to No. 13 was Ole Miss, which routed Tulane on Saturday and will visit Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 2.

Arkansas continued its steady rise, up six spots to No. 18, while Auburn fell three spots to No. 23 after losing to Penn State.

The Associated Press will be released later Sunday.

Until I see ol piss play a ranked team with some semblance of a defense Ill withhold the accolades
You have a point here but I'd caution anyone this: Ole Miss will put up points and yards on every opponent they play. However, I don't believe you can take what's been done so far as defining of the Ole Miss offense. Kiffin still had his first team in going into the fourth up HUGE. I've been of the opinion, all year, that Corral is the best QB in the SEC.

Now, their defense? I want to see them versus an offense with more than a faint pulse.

I'll bet you Kiffin has been preparing for this game for weeks, if not months. No different that Mullen and UF spending the last three weeks preparing for Alabama.

There's no doubt. And he should be. His issue is, his attention may well wane after the game (regardless of result) when he doesn't have have that to focus on.

Yes, you can absolutely bet they’ve been preparing for Bama since the Spring. They took their bye week early in the season just so Kiffin would have an extra week to prepare for the Tide. I truly believe he was willing to lose a game early rather than use a scheme he’s been saving for Saban and Bama. If Saban, his coaches and the players aren’t equally focused on the game, there’s a very good chance Ole Miss beats them. I was a little concerned about this game before the season began … especially when I saw Kiffin set it up to have two weeks to prepare for it. However, after Bama’s performances of the past two weeks, I’m a lot more than a little concerned.

Well....thats the life the #1 team lives.....
But bama isnt Tulane or Austine P or Louisville....

And ole ms still has the rest of SECw to negotiate....

top 5-10 team....we shall see...and as Correl best QB....ummm
But probably lives in best Offensive scheme in SEC....

They may be a good 9-3...or 10-2....may even be second best in west...A not real strong west...

But they don't have talent of Bama, LSU, AnM or even AU...lucky-they get 2 worse SECe teams in TN n Vandy...........

will be a fun game....Nick needs to stick his nose in Defense operations....

Florida is a Top 10 team and should be where Texas A&M is. Ole Miss should be up there as well. Texas A&M is nothing, especially without their starting quarterback. Need to see a lot more out of Iowa and Oklahoma. Ohio State and Clemson are prime for the picking if they play anymore actual teams this season. Boston College lost their starting quarterback, so not sure they have the guns on offense to get it done.

I agree with most of what you said but Florida didn’t have the talent of Bama either. And if Bama coaches and plays like they coached and played Saturday … Ole Miss can beat them. Hopefully, Florida woke the coaches and the players up.

The ole ball coach said UF was going to beat The King a couple of weeks back. JMO but I think he knew Dan's plans for Bama and how much effort had been extended by the UF coaches and players to get that win. The stage was set no doubt.

It will be interesting to see how the Gators respond this week vs UT. Will they sleepwalk into the game or have a case of the poor pitiful me's vs Tenner? Or will they have a new energy over the Bama game and come out of the gate kick azz?

TBD

Well. They know this....( or we do anyway)
They have a mark in loss column...
They know uga has a easy road till sec cc day...
As such...they know they cant have loss #2.....
If they can beat uga...each with a lost...then ....and then they would own tiebreaker..

and they still have lsu.....to UGA s. AU...

a lot to know..at least we know this
