šŸ“” Alabama has released its "depth chart" for 2019

Listening to Dylan Moses talk about Christian Harris was really interesting. He mentioned when it comes to his cover skills, he's a DB picking up receivers. Then he mentioned that Harris never played LBer in high school. He was a DB and receiver. Not sure how I missed that but his skill level has to be off the charts for the position. Welcome to small-ball.

Notable absences from the depth chart -

At LB - haven't heard much about Jarez Parks since coming aboard.

At CB - looks like Marcus Banks and Scooby Carter have both passed Eddie Smith?

At DL - doesn't look like Christian Barmore, Ishmael Sopsher, or Antonio Alfano are ready for the rotation... probably the most disappointing news, that they don't appear ready to help with depth

I wasn't too far off.

Small ball? Harris as a freshman is bigger than Moses, mcmillion, moody, and Benton

If we have a slash there that means we feel that both guys are very much in competition for the position and both guys have an opportunity to play at that position.

OL has still not been revealed. 5 guys in the mix for the interior 3 spots right now with the 6th, Brown, suspended.

My only guess is Dickerson and Neal start - not sure on #3 or where Dickerson will start

That "or" statement (|) continues to come into play. Yesterday, Ekiyor wasn't working with the 1's at LG during drill work. That was held down by Neal. Owens and Ekiyor worked with the 1's at center. Both Womack and Dickerson worked with the 1's at RG (how much Womack's participation there was due to Dickerson having helmet problems to start camp is a legit question.)

It isn't just the size of the players that Alabama is using on the field to combat the spread principles. It's also the skill set our players are bringing to the dance. Dylan Moses would be another example of a player that can move and has those fast-twitch muscles. What I thought was interesting about Harris was his background and skillset in highschool. There has to be a pretty good reason this guy just leapfrogged a lot of talented ILBers with more experience than Christian. I think it's that DB/receiver skillset.

I think Eddie Smith is at safety. He has the same problem there, with true frosh Jordan Battle and DeMarco Hellams ahead of him currently.

At DT, I think they only listed a certain #. Barmore has seen the field before, so I suspect he can add depth now. Alfano has been away for a few days and will probably have to earn his way back. Sophser sounded like he came in heavy and IMO will need a year of conditioning before he can give himself a chance to earn PT.

i must say... this team, particularly on offense, appears to be exceptional..

i still have some concerns about defensive cohesiveness... team play so to speak. we will know in the fullness of time.
