🏈 Alabama Football: Six-Game Player Stock Watch (Buy, Sell, Hold).

I don’t think it’s unnecessary. He had the same problem last year. He about got Milroe killed against South Florida.

What’s the difference between “selling” him and saying “giving him away”. Both are judging his level of play.

Ok, so give some constructive criticism about it. Tell us why he doesn’t need to be playing and who should take his spot. Sorry to single you out on it, because as I said, you are FAR from the only one taking an unnecessary jab at a player. But just lobbing daggers at a player, one of the hardest working players on the roster in this particular case, seems pretty shitty.

Well that’s going to limit a lot of comments!

That’s ok.

I think they are asking Fromby to do more than his feet and athleticism will allow him to do at RT. Seems like the staff is seeing something that makes them think he is capable or at least the best option at times.

See, it can be done without bashing the guy.

Personally, I think they’ve given him some extra rope to work with to stay at RT, based partly on the loyalty he showed to the program by turning down LSU’s offer last January. I agree on his feet and athleticism, which again, points to why they had plans as early as a year ago to possibly slide him inside (which they’ve done some). Now, Carroll is emerging and starting to learn what he’s supposed to do on every play. Formby has that knowledge, but he doesn’t have Carroll’s athletic ability, power, and mean streak (neither does hardly anyone else). But Formby isn’t a bad player. He’s much better than the guy he replaced, Pritchett, when you take into account the whole player. And going forward, whether he’s at tackle, guard, or first man up, he’s going to be a valuable piece to this team.

Yeah I think he will be more effective at guard but the freshman still has some growing up to do in the playbook I assume.

Agree with @mando and @Brandon Van de Graaff , Formby is likely best suited at guard. I imagine the “rope” that Brandon referred to, the staff is giving him the opportunity and help (chipping TE or RB) but that limits the offenses’ ability to get all receivers into the pattern. There was a time when the TE chipped and Formby still wasn’t able to get out fast enough and the another time when it looked like he expected help from Hill but Hill released into the flat instead.

Yep, he was definitely expecting help... not sure who was right or wrong on the play, but he was sure he was getting RB help. Based on how things played out on the day, my money is on Formby being right, but that's just a guess.

I don’t mind any constructive criticism. I do it myself. But the blatant shots, and he ain’t the only one doing it by any means, are a step too far (on this forum). Doesn’t mean one can’t be critical or whatever, but I’d suggest leaving the lowbrow comments off. Basically, don’t write anything on here that you wouldn’t walk up to the player, look him in the eye, and say

That’s ok.
He doesn’t move his feet. He doesn’t time his “punch” when he’s in his set to disrupt the edge, blah blah blah

He actually graded really well a few games ago, I think Wisconsin.

When you don't hear the name of a defensive back ...
Except when it’s a run straight up the middle and nobody touches RB. I would like to hear his name a few times making a tackle and preventing an explosive run. Safeties still do tackle RBs in today’s college FB, right?

That would also mean they made it through Bray: he's the run stopper for the DB's.

JJ is the run defense so far.'s

I find it note worthy to see there is a difference in which position groups lead in tackles. With Saban we saw LB's and DB's leading the team. It's more DL and LB now.
