| NEWS Alabama Football Coach Nick Saban On When He Will Retire - Sports Illustrated

Stalling was tall on list
Back when Finebaum's radio program was in it's infancy, he would have Stallings and Dye quite often. One of his interviews with Stallings, he said that Bear offered him the job, and that he (Stallings) wanted it. Problem was, Stallings was the DC for the Cowboys and they were a lock for the playoffs. Bear said January was huge for recruiting back then and that he would need to step in as soon as the bowl game was over. Stallings said he was under contract and was a man of his word and didn't feel it was right to ditch Landry during the play offs............the rest is history.

Makes you wonder if Stallings could have actually been a success as the man that follows the legend.
